Glenn Patrick Bradford was once a proud Evansville, Indiana police officer. "There's no question I was exceptionally good at it," he says. "And it came naturally for me. And it was just like being right where you're supposed to be." But today, Bradford is in prison serving 80 years for murdering his girlfriend, Tammy Lohr at her home at 1106 South Boeke Road. In August 1992, she was stabbed repeatedly in her back and neck, before her body was set on fire in an arson case with deliberately-poured gasoline. Her poodle dog was also stabbed and killed. The crime rocked Evansville, Ind. Tammy, a 24-year-old civilian jailer, was attractive, energetic and popular. Bradford, who was married to another woman at the time, insists he had nothing to do with his girlfriend Tammy's murder. Susan Spencer reports on this tangled, tragic case.

For seven weeks last year, in the Texas port city of Galveston, Texas, one of the wealthiest men in America was standing trial for the bizarre murder of an elderly man. Robert Durst, 60, and Morris Black, 71, were neighbors. Durst claims Black came into his apartment, grabbed a gun that Durst had hidden and pointed it at him. Durst then said that they struggled over the gun before it went off, killing Black accidentally. At Durst's two-month trial, the jury's not-guilty verdict, after five days of deliberation, shocked everyone - including Durst himself.

David Coffin a wealthy Atlanta is found dead in his burning home. Immediately, Scott Davis was suspected of being involved because his soon to be ex wife Megan was one of the women Coffin was dating. Scott was in the police crosshairs because be he repeated to police what Megan had told him that evening that Coffin had been "Shot". Megan denied telling Scott this starting she did not know how Coffin had died. Scott was arrested. Scott denied any involvement vehemently. The case fell apart against Scott when he produced an alibi and it was discovered that Coffin was involved with cocaine when it was found in his blood during autopsy. Megan's best friend came forward and stated that Megan had called her that first evening from Coffin's neighbor's house and stated Coffin had been "Shot in the head". Charges were dropped against Scott. Years later the case was restarted against Scott because he ran for Governor in California. Over these years police lost or destroyed virtually all the evidence in the case and Megan changed her story repeatedly to now dubiously claim Scott told her Coffin had been shot in the head. No evidence supported this but prosecutors moved forward anyway. In a very close trial, it appears an Innocent Man is possibly convicted.

Linda's sons spent decades living in fear of the man they called "The Monster". Nearly 40 years later, advances in DNA technology revealed Linda Slaten's likely killer: Coach Joe. "I looked up to this guy," Tim tells "48 Hours" contributor Jim Axelrod. "And I had a picture in my house ever since then, and never knew it was him." "He's a cold-hearted monster, that's for sure," says Jeff.
Young wife and mother Mengqi Ji Elledge, age 28, was a Chinese foreign exchange student at University of Missouri. She went missing in October 2019. Her husband, Joseph Elledge of Columbia, Missouri, reported her disappearance to the police. Everybody felt that it was strange that Mengqi went missing without her cell phone or her young toddler daughter. Mengqi's parents came to America from China to try to help the investigation. The police asked the public for help and searched exhaustively for Mengqi. In March 2021, her body was found. In the end, Joseph Elledge, now age 26, was brought to trial and was found guilty of killing his wife. He was sentenced to 28 years in prison, the maximum amount allowed by law.

On Dec. 6, 1991, four teenager girls - 17-year-old Eliza Thomas, 13-year-old Amy Ayers, and two sisters, 17-year-old Jennifer Harbison and 15-year-old Sarah Harbison - were found gagged, tied up with their own clothing, and shot in the head in a yogurt shop, which was then set on fire. Eliza and Jennifer worked at the shop and were closing up for the night, and Sarah and Amy had met them there to head home together. Gunshot wounds revealed two different types of guns were used, but there was little other evidence at the scene, and the fire complicated the early investigation. The case is still unsolved.

But when the Putnam County Sheriff saw the way her body was lying in the couple's bed, he says he didn't see a suicide, he saw a murder. In the end, Seth Perrault was arrested and convicted of Amanda's murder. Perrault was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
