Rowena Irani, a 22-year-old Wichita State University student, was shot on October 3, 2016. She died the next day. A Pakistani immigrant, Rowena was a psychology major and was working to become a teen psychologist. She was in her junior year of college when she was killed. Irani was still alive when Dane Owens was arrested in connection with the shooting. Owens soon confessed to entering Irani's home while she was alone and committing the murder. Two years after Rowena Irani was killed, her ex-boyfriend Dane Owens was found guilty of first-degree felony murder. Owens is an Afghanistan war veteran who suffers from PTSD.

S9.E4 ∙ I Had No Choice
"I Had No Choice" - On June 9, 2011, a 51-year-old Florida native, William Arnold Hudnall, also known as Bill Hudnall, was brutally and savagely killed in his home in Hawthorne, Florida. The perpetrators were his wife Stephanie and their 19-year-old daughter Guenevere. Stephanie was the mastermind and Guenevere was the actual killer who wielded the large pickaxe. Bill and his wife had become estranged and were living apart from each other. Stephanie impressed upon Guenevere that her father was the cause of their money problems. Stephanie further manipulated Guenevere by telling her that they would be better off if Bill were dead, because they would become eligible to collect his Social Security benefits. Both women took a no-contest plea deal and were both sentenced to 40 years in prison. This installment was titled "I Had No Choice" because that was a phrase that Guenevere used when being interrogated by homicide detectives, caught and shown on video. She felt that she had no other choice than to murder Bill Hudnall.
S9.E5 ∙ Only She Knows
When 20-year-old Chloe Randolph gives birth to a baby boy, nicknamed Slim, her family is over the moon, but what should be a blissful time for this loving mom is about to turn into a waking nightmare. Someone has betrayed her trust, and there's going to be hell to pay. In the end, investigators determine that Chloe was murdered by her estranged husband, Mohamud Jibril Abdikadir, who had immigrated to the United States from Somalia. Mohamud Abdikadir eventually pleaded guilty to the murder charges, and on September 23, 2021, a judge sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
S9.E6 ∙ The Only Way Out
Air Force veteran Roger Steward Harris and his wife Donna Lynn Jordan, a nurse, built their dream home in Florida. However, just after the birth of their second son, a vile secret threatens their seemingly sweet, simple life. Someone was hatching a plot that no one ever saw coming. Donna was found dead inside her van at an Interstate 75 truck stop, shot with a homemade gun that fired a nail into her head. In the end, Roger Harris and his girlfriend, Jennifer R. Palmer, were arrested for the December 1998 murder of Donna Lynn Jordan. Harris was convicted and initially received a death penalty, but his sentence was later reduced to life in prison. Jennifer Palmer pleaded guilty to "conspiracy and accessory after the fact" to first-degree murder.
S9.E7 ∙ Building Is Full of Snakes!
New Florence, MO, 2017: Missouri snake breeder Ben Renick, age 29, is building an empire as a world-renowned breeder of exotic snakes. He has fame, fortune and a young family to share it with, but little does he know, someone he loves is hatching a venomous plot. He was found dead on June 8, 2017. Investigators initially suspected one of his prized serpents had killed him, but after their investigation, they discovered that something or someone more heinous was responsible. In the end, almost three years after Ben Renick's murder, Ben's wife Lynlee Renick and her ex-boyfriend, Michael Humphrey, were arrested for Ben's murder. After their arrests, Lynlee and Humphrey both blamed the other one for firing the fatal shots. The two conspirators were both found guilty of second-degree murder by the jury. Humphrey was sentenced to life in prison, and Lynlee was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

The Big Island, Hawaii: Police officer Albert Pacheco and his wife Cathy live on Hawaii's Big Island, raising four children in the bosom of their close-knit church community. But what looks like a household steeped in traditional goodness is hiding something evil. Indeed, on January 2002, Albert Pacheco fatally shot his wife Cathalene "Cathy" Pacheco on a residential street in Waikoloa, after she informed him of her wishes to separate from him. While driving his police car, Pacheco ran into his wife's van. He then walked over to the van, shot her over a dozen times, and then called 911, informing his fellow officers about the incident. In 2004, Albert Pacheco accepted a plea deal and was convicted and sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 15 years for second-degree murder and 20 years for carrying or use of a firearm in the commission of a separate felony.
S9.E11 ∙ Friends Outside of Work
Young parents Gary and Tasha Bentley are living the good life. They have high-paying jobs, a nice house, and are able to take regular trips to the tropics on holidays. But just five years into their marriage, someone is plotting an "exit strategy" that ends with a bullet.
S9.E12 ∙ Day Three After Murder
Divorced father-of-three, 45-year-old Daniel Halseth, lives for visitations with his children. When his teenage daughter Sierra Halseth claims that she wants to live with her father, Daniel finds himself drawn into a web of lies and a plot that ends with a deadly house fire. In the end, Aaron Guerrero and Sierra Halseth were convicted of killing Daniel Halseth on April 9, 2021. The teens were sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for fatally stabbing the girl's father over 70 times.

St. Joseph, Michigan: Carla Lewis gives her husband John Lewis money to open a medical marijuana store that sells pain relief products. Before too long, the spiraling costs of business, the rumors of illegal activities and a string of infidelities eclipse the good intentions and sow the seeds for murder. In the end, John Lewis is arrested and convicted of murdering his wife, Carla Lewis, age 55, on August 13, 2017, in their Niles Township home.
S9.E15 ∙ Lake Placid
Jeffrey and Jeannine Glanda appear to have it all. But when someone craves control more than love, it sets in motion a deadly plot ending with a suspicious car accident. In the end, Jeffrey Glanda murdered his estranged wife Jeannine Glanda. On August 18, 1997, Jeffrey killed Jeannine with the help of a former friend-turned-accomplice, Nicholas Pecararo, and tried to make the murder look like a motor vehicle accident. The two men drowned her at her home with water from Upper Cascade Lake in the state of New York, and then pushed her vehicle, with her in it, into that lake. Jeff Glanda was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without parole. He died in prison in 2019. Nicholas Pecararo was convicted of second-degree murder as an accomplice and was sentenced to 20-years-to-life in prison.

S9.E17 ∙ I Took Her Somewhere
October 2014: Tawnee Marie Baird, age 21, was a student at Salt Lake Community College when she was stabbed to death by her abusive girlfriend, Victoria Mendoza. The pair had first met in 2010 while serving time at a youth treatment center a few years. However, they had a tumultuous relationship from the beginning. Authorities found Tawnee with at least 46 stab wounds in the passenger seat of her car while Victoria sat covered in blood behind the wheel. Victoria was arrested and later admitted that the two were having an argument in the car when she stabbed the 21-year-old to death. Victoria pleaded guilty, was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
S9.E18 ∙ He Wasn't Supposed to be Here
After three divorces between them, Roberta and Ken Samard seem to have finally found a lasting marriage. 15 years on, they appear to be living their dream life in Oregon, until an early morning call to 911 exposes the ugly truth.
S9.E19 ∙ Keep It Hush
A loving wife and mother of two sons, Ariet Girgis, is found stabbed to death inside her home in 2004. A team of dedicated law enforcement detectives dedicate eight years to finding her killer. The investigators "connect the dots" to discover an evil plot born from greed and a need for total control. Ultimately, an undercover sting operation uncovers a world of lies, betrayal and terror. In the end, the mastermind of the murder was Ariet's husband, Magdi Girgis. Magdi had hired a hit man to kill his wife. Their sons, Richard and Ryan Girgis, appear on the show and speak about the pain and heartache they have suffered over the loss of their dear mother.

Heavily pregnant Colorado native Shanna Vandewege supports her husband Craig's plan to move to Texas for work. The birth of a baby makes up for Shanna's separation from her Colorado family, but someone is about to exploit her isolation as an outlet for rage.
S9.E21 ∙ Cabin Fever
September 13, 2015; Greenwood, El Dorado County, California: Adam, Molly and their 8-year-old son Gavin Buchanan are found dead in their burned-down cabin home in the woods. Detectives learn that all three victims had gunshot wounds to their heads, so they know that this is a murder investigation. In the end, the killer turns out to be Adam's son from Adam's first marriage, teenager Nolen Buchanan. On April 24, 2018, Nolen went to trial and was found guilty. He was convicted and sentenced to "150 years to life in prison" and is eligible for parole in 2039.
