Badehotellet
The seaside hotel "Badehotellet" in NW Denmark opens for its wealthy guests each summer. We follow the guests and staff at the hotel from 1928 and into the 1940s.

S1.E1 ∙ En sommer ved Vesterhavet
The seaside hotel opens for another summer in 1928 with wealthy guests arriving as well as staff. The pretty Fie, 18, begins working there. After initial problems, she's well liked there.
S1.E2 ∙ Herrebesøg
The hotel owner sees a man leave the maids' quarters 5AM. Amanda phones her friend about their bet on losing their virginity. The men discuss topics of the day and business opportunities.
S1.E3 ∙ Fatale følger
Fie worries about her dad's health. Will she leave? Amanda wants to attend a party. The bathroom light switch is still giving shocks. The men discuss a woman's nude bathing. Will Andersen again peek, when Amanda takes a bath?
S1.E4 ∙ Stormen raser
The storm is the main topic of discussion. When Andersen's hospitalized, the hotel's suppliers require cash payment on delivery. With Mr. and Mrs. Andersen absent, Fie takes charge of the guests' dinner etc.
S1.E5 ∙ Eventyr i sommernatten
Mr. Andersen's funeral is held. Fie helps Molly Andersen with the accounts etc. Amanda goes out fishing with Morten. Her dad fights with him. 3 men want to move to another hotel but their wives don't.
S1.E6 ∙ Slutningen på sæsonen
Olga tries to find a wife for her son. She offers Edith work in Copenhagen as maid. Sibylle likes the son but she's married and pregnant. The count is blackmailed again. The count's land deal idea goes through. The season ends.
S2.E1 ∙ Amandas valg
Once again all the guests are back at the hotel. The truth about Morten is told and new visitors arrive.
S2.E2 ∙ Den store fest
Amanda's pressured by her dad into marrying Ditmar. In return he'll drop charges and Morten can return to Fie. There's a big engagement party.
S2.E3 ∙ Sønnen fra Amerika
Poul, Molly Andersen's stepson, arrives from USA for the inheritance from his late dad. Why did he leave 10 years ago? Poul brings his own man for the hotel appraisal. Amanda learns about Ditmar's nature and uses it.
S2.E4 ∙ Kærlighed
Molly has problems finding money to pay for the higher appraisal and may have to sell. Four women head to Skagen for the day. Morten comes back. Lydia and Vera have a seance to contact old Mr. Andersen. The men get drunk.
S2.E5 ∙ Salgsaftalen
Grocer Damgaard withdraws the loan offer to Molly, but he still wants to buy the hotel, keeping her to run the hotel. Mrs. Damgaard wants to run the hotel, once bought. Morten buys a motorbike. Adam finally got married.
S2.E6 ∙ Sandhedens time
The guests get ready to leave next day. The police is looking for a Swedish smuggler staying at Morten's. Madsen's real estate plan has problems. Adam drops by. It's the moment of truth to many.
S2.E7 ∙ Stormen
Msdsen's invited many of the usual guests to the hotel off-season as his investments on Wall Street are paying off - or so he thinks. Amanda and Ditmar got married 2 weeks earlier. The men +1 go hunting.
S3.E1 ∙ Amandas gæster
Summer season 1930 begins and guests arrive. Georg Madsen's gone bankrupt (Wall Street crash) but has new plans. Otto's bankrupt, too. The hotel's kitchen garden is at risk. Morten's still missing. Therese has beginner's luck at bridge.
S3.E2 ∙ Vagabonden
A hungry and smelly friend of Morten shows up with news on him. He's become a shipowner. After Ditmar says no, can Madsen find money for his project? Will Ditmar get his dad's seat in politics after his dad's funeral?
S3.E3 ∙ Fru Madsens smykker
Madsen pawns his wife's jewelry to start his project. Morten's lawyer stays at the hotel to spy on Madsen's project. Fie's dad sells his mill and considers buying Morten's dad's house near the hotel. Amanda moves in with Max.
S3.E4 ∙ Strandvaskeren
Fie's dad moves in but doesn't appreciate Fie's work on the house. Aurland is in Copenhagen after overhearing, that his baby may not be his. The two sisters are together again. The hotel staff finds a naked man on the beach.
S3.E5 ∙ Stauning
Ditmar and Amanda resolve their situation after some bumps. Mrs. Andersen and Fie's dad become friends. Prime minister Stauning drops by for a late lunch with a young lady. Madsen is interested in Max' drawings. Max and Amanda?
S3.E6 ∙ Kortene på bordet
Amanda and Max are back together. Both Max and Madsen are stressed about whether Max wins the architect contest. Weyse saves the Aurland and Frigh marriages last moment.
S3.E7 ∙ Fodspor fra havet
The hotel opens off-season for the filming of a horror silent movie. Weyse plays the lead and Amanda is a director's assistant. Amanda tells her mom and she tells the other summer guests, who all arrive and disturb the filming.
S4.E1 ∙ Midsommernatten
The hotel opens for summer 1931. Guests arrive. Mrs. Andersen lives with Fie's dad. Fie is now running the hotel. Amanda married Max, who's busy as architect. Weyse's 1st ex shows up, married to Poulsen, who got him banned.
S4.E2 ∙ Weyses forbandelse
Fie's sister, Ane, shows up, fired by the vicar's wife. She starts working at the hotel. She makes many mistakes - one answers Weyse's prayers. Ditmar's German cousin Mitzi arrives with his mom. New wife?
S4.E3 ∙ Et galehus
Jazz musician Jesper still wants Fie but she doesn't. What about Ane? Mitzi expresses her love for Hitler in a talk about Germany. Madsen does business with Morten. Frigh chases a young actress.
S4.E4 ∙ Feriebarnet
Aurland has a radio debate in Copenhagen. Frigh visits Kitty again. Divorce? Weyse looks after "his" son. Mrs. Aurland wants another baby. Amanda might work in advertising.
S4.E5 ∙ Ikke lutter lagkage
2 maids are ill. Food poisoning? The guests? Mrs. Frigh likes the kind single farmer, Arne. He has money problems. Mrs. Aurland tries to seduce her husband. Lydia likes Dr. Ploug but he likes Olga.
S4.E6 ∙ Skybrud
It looks like a storm is coming. Merchant Madsen have nonetheless, to his family's surprise, planned a full-day trip to Råbjerg Mile. What is the matter with the good merchant? Ane knows, there is no way out other than telling her father, that the rendezvous with Jesper has had consequences. But she fears her father's reaction. In the absence of her husband, Mrs. Frigh is still more captivated by the local farmer, Arne Kokholm, while Mrs. Aurland becomes more and more incautious in her relationship with Weyse. And then finally, the sky cracks open in a heavy cloudburst that turns the hotel upside down and brings forth both revelations and closer relationships.
S4.E7 ∙ Til salg
When the storm destroys Kokholm's crops, he's bankrupt and leaves with his children. Mrs. Andersen tried to help him at the bank and now has to sell the hotel. Solutions are found for many. Many decisions are made.
S5.E1 ∙ De nye gæster
The hotel opens summer 1932 for previous years' guests and stockbroker Molin and wife. He talks timber business with Madsen. There's Midsummer Eve bonfire on the beach. Amanda thinks of making filmed ads with Weyse.
S5.E2 ∙ Anes hemmelighed
Molin is still trying to sell timber to Madsen. Frigh arranges a croquet contest for the guests. Will Ditmar, arriving with Mitzi and mom, consummate his marriage? Where is Ane, when she's "visiting her dad"?
S5.E3 ∙ Alle mine længsler
Walther asks Edith out. Otilia secretly brings Aurland Politiken and borrows a novel. He helps her with a teaching career. An ad's filmed on the beach. The timber deal is now or never.
S5.E4 ∙ Hugormen
Weyse thinks, Severin's been bitten by a viper and drives him to the hospital. Molin sabotages his wife's acting plans. She takes revenge. Frigh tries to sell the factory with Molin's help.
S5.E5 ∙ Besøg sydfra
Madsen considers Morten's offer to split the partnership. Fie and her dad try to track down Jesper to find Ane's baby. Mitzi finds out that Ditmar is gay. Her brother visits with 5 Hitler Jugend friends.
S5.E6 ∙ En kærlighedshistorie
Copenhagen, January 1933: Weyse just married Mrs. Aurland. Madsen and Frigh decide to surprise him at the hotel. Fie opens the hotel. The rest of the usual guests show up. Big changes follow.
S6.E1 ∙ Velkommen hjem
Six years have passed, and dark clouds are gathering over Europe. The regular guests of the beach hotel are still set for their vacation.
S6.E2 ∙ En lykkelig barndom
Weyse sees a psychoanalyst. Molin comes to talk with Madsen about doing business in Germany and to see his ex. Mrs. Andersen, Mr. Kjær and Emma return from Fie in England. Leslie tries to get a date with Nana.
S6.E3 ∙ Den fremmede
Leslie hopes for a second date with Nana. His mom has plans for him in the company. Robert has secretly returned to Denmark and contacts Olga at the hotel.
S6.E4 ∙ Nye planer
Madsen sees Robert when he nearly runs down a hen. Amanda spends the last money on a tourist film without having a contract yet. Weyse still needs a psychologist. Jesper plays jazz in Skagen.
S6.E5 ∙ Soldaten
With company money gone, Amanda suggests to Ditmar and Dupont, that they run the hotel next summer. Weyse returns from his two cute high school graduates. Ditmar's mom's engaged. Will Robert get on the ferry to Sweden?
S6.E6 ∙ En ny begyndelse
Morten visits family and wants to sell the hotel as he'll return to England. Amanda? Leslie tells his mom about Nana. Helene discovers Weyse's adventures. Will Robert get to Sweden? Summer and peace end.
S7.E1 ∙ Ingen tyskere her
1940: The seaside hotel opens for a new summer with Amanda as new owner. Denmark was invaded April 9. Previous years' guests come, partly to get away from the Germans. They all deal with problems from the German occupation.
S7.E2 ∙ Samarbejde
Mrs. Weyse fears there will be great trouble when the Wehrmacht finds out that the youngest son in the family has stolen a service record from them. Weyse promises to get rid of the book, but that is not how the German herrenvolk play. Simultaneously Molin returns from Berlin with a very tempting offer for Madsen about a new collaboration with the Germans. But is it wise to say yes now that Denmark is occupied? Luckily, war and occupation do not put a hold on urges and the new guest Johan Ramsing continues to court Mrs. Frigh, just as a suitor suddenly appears for her daughter, Bertha.
S7.E3 ∙ Sommer, See und Sonnenschein
Weyse must learn to sing in German or else the hotel will be confiscated by the Germans. Helene helps him. Peter comes from England via Sweden to look at the German expansion of Aalborg Airport that Madsen might take part in.
S7.E4 ∙ Alsang og hærværk
When the minister of foreign affairs, Scavenius, expresses admiration for the great German victories Lydia Vetterstrøm believes the time has come to show national sentiment by joining in community singing. However, it is not easy to get everyone involved. Mrs. Frigh is only occupied with Johan Ramsing after having spent the night together in complete secrecy. Weyse rehearses for his film role in 'Havoc' together with the anti-Nazi Gerhard Flügelhorn, at the same time as he anxiously tries to hide that he has performed for the Germans in Skagen. And Madsen is struggling to get his wife to attend the banquet with the Wehrmacht in Aalborg, while Morten is trying to figure out who it is that helps the Germans with the expansion of the airport down there.
S7.E5 ∙ En herre fra København
Ane helps Morten spy on Madsen about his airport expansion work for the Germans. Leslie is getting married in 3 weeks. What about Nana? A German officer likes Amanda. Mrs. Frigh's trust costs her.
S7.E6 ∙ Besat
Will Weyse join the Danish German cultural club to act at the theater? Leslie cancels the wedding. Nana? When Amanda rejects a Nazi officer's advances, he decides to seize the hotel. Will Madsen still work for the Germans?
S8.E1 ∙ Det taler vi ikke om
The summer of 1941. The German occupying power has commandeered the neighbouring hotel but that does certainly not keep the regular guests away. As Edward Weyse says: If we just pretend they are not there, then they are not there. The popular actor is otherwise writing his memoirs, Merchant Madsen is keen to rediscover the joys of eroticism, all the while Mrs. Frigh has completely repressed the fact that a marriage swindler tricked her of a fortune last summer. Everything looks promising but then a Communist scene painter, two German soldiers with binoculars and an orthopaedic surgeon from Gentofte turn everything upside down.
S8.E2 ∙ Chokolade og flødeskum
Amanda gets the barbwire off her beach at a price - coffee and cake to 8 young, German soldiers. Weyse's memoirs suffer from writer's block. Claus reveals himself to Bertha. Alice and Bertha fetch the mysterious bag.
S8.E3 ∙ Brevet
A letter to the young, German soldier causes big problems. Bertha volunteers to spy. Weyse's ex won't write his memoirs but has an advice. Bertha and Alice have a talk about the bag and Emil.
S8.E4 ∙ Noget for noget
Merchant Madsen feels complicit in the young German soldiers' desertion, but it won't be the last time their paths meet. In an attempt to repress the fact that his wife is on the run with the Communist theatre painter Svend Damm, actor Weyse throws himself energetically over his memoirs, but when the police come knocking on his door everything changes. At the same time, Madsen's faithful companion August Molin arrives with daunting plans of desertion, while a small present from the German Lieutenant Kiessling suddenly makes Amanda lie to the entire hotel.
S8.E5 ∙ Søminen
When a detached German sea mine is washed ashore right down from the hotel, it becomes the beginning of a dramatic end to the guests' holiday. But by then, the young German soldier Stefan is to be put in front of a court-martial, Mrs. Frigh needs to find out what happened to the charming fraud Emil Høyer, and actor Weyse will fall subject to an unreasonable accusation of having taken a political stand. In the meantime, Amanda once more gets the need of Lieutenant Kiessling, while Merchant Madsen's relationship with the occupying power is put to a conclusive test.
S9.E1 ∙ It's been a long, long time
It has been four years and it is now 1945. Denmark is free once more. Amanda has become a single mother after a relationship with a man from Göteborg and is now returning, together with her little daughter, back to the hotel, which is pretty done in by having been occupied by German soldiers through the intervening years. Nonetheless, after five busy weeks, the doors can finally be opened to the regulars of the hotel, however, not everyone can put the period of occupation behind them. In the midst of it all Mrs Fejldsø arrives with her Swedish grandchild, the delightful 16-years old Sarah, who in the meantime has never been told that her real father is Edward Weyse.
S9.E2 ∙ Frida
Edward, believing that Sarah is his daughter, begins getting close to her. A former guest returns to the hotel.
S9.E3 ∙ Dametur
When Sarah's Jewish grandparents are the victims of a serious felony, Weyse tries with some comforting words. However, Sarah demands action from the famous actor. Mr. and Mrs. Molin makes their entrance at the hotel with pockets filled with success and surplus capital. Nevertheless, Mr. Molin does not dare to tell his wife where the money comes from. Mrs. Weyse is tired of her husband's preoccupation with his daughter and invites Mrs. Frigh on an excursion with inherent surprises. That Lieutenant Kiessling didn't die on the Eastern Front is both a relief and a disappointment to Amanda. Because then why hasn't he answered her letters?
S9.E4 ∙ Weyse får nok
Weyse is despairing that his unknown daughter Sarah has put him on ice and agrees to perform on the radio in the hopes of getting her to join. At the same time, his neglected wife once more receives an invitation from the women-loving lawyer Ødegaard Andersen in Skaw. At long last Amanda gets some news about Lieutenant Kiessling, while Count Ditmar has a visit, which challenges any talk about reconciliation. And then it is the day where Madsen and Molin can toast to a new partnership, but suddenly Molin gets the bubbles stuck in his throat.

Another summer by sea is winding down and every guest has loose ends to tie up.
