The seaside hotel "Badehotellet" in NW Denmark opens for its wealthy guests each summer. We follow the guests and staff at the hotel from 1928 and into the 1940s.

The hotel opens for summer 1931. Guests arrive. Mrs. Andersen lives with Fie's dad. Fie is now running the hotel. Amanda married Max, who's busy as architect. Weyse's 1st ex shows up, married to Poulsen, who got him banned.
Fie's sister, Ane, shows up, fired by the vicar's wife. She starts working at the hotel. She makes many mistakes - one answers Weyse's prayers. Ditmar's German cousin Mitzi arrives with his mom. New wife?
Jazz musician Jesper still wants Fie but she doesn't. What about Ane? Mitzi expresses her love for Hitler in a talk about Germany. Madsen does business with Morten. Frigh chases a young actress.
Aurland has a radio debate in Copenhagen. Frigh visits Kitty again. Divorce? Weyse looks after "his" son. Mrs. Aurland wants another baby. Amanda might work in advertising.
2 maids are ill. Food poisoning? The guests? Mrs. Frigh likes the kind single farmer, Arne. He has money problems. Mrs. Aurland tries to seduce her husband. Lydia likes Dr. Ploug but he likes Olga.
It looks like a storm is coming. Merchant Madsen have nonetheless, to his family's surprise, planned a full-day trip to Råbjerg Mile. What is the matter with the good merchant? Ane knows, there is no way out other than telling her father, that the rendezvous with Jesper has had consequences. But she fears her father's reaction. In the absence of her husband, Mrs. Frigh is still more captivated by the local farmer, Arne Kokholm, while Mrs. Aurland becomes more and more incautious in her relationship with Weyse. And then finally, the sky cracks open in a heavy cloudburst that turns the hotel upside down and brings forth both revelations and closer relationships.
When the storm destroys Kokholm's crops, he's bankrupt and leaves with his children. Mrs. Andersen tried to help him at the bank and now has to sell the hotel. Solutions are found for many. Many decisions are made.
