Deaf U follows a group of students attending Gallaudet University, a private college catering to the deaf and hard of hearing. For DiMarco, the goal of the series is to show deaf people as humans, from all walks of life.

After talking to Alexa, Daequan takes a good hard look at his past. Cheyenna shoots a new video for her followers -- much to the dismay of the Elites. Renate and Tayla have different attitudes regarding their families' disapproval of their relationship.
S1.E3 ∙ Am I Not Deaf Enough?
Daequan opens up about his mom at Rodney's family dinner, and Renate performs a piece about Tayla at a poetry slam. Cheyenna confronts Alexa about a rumor, making her question her loyalty to the Elites right before she shares a secret with Tessa.
S1.E4 ∙ Are You over Me?
Daequan and Raelynn's date finally arrives, and Alexa catches up with her mom over lunch. Dalton visits his friend Zane at the brewery to compare beer recipes as well as dating lives. Later, Alexa and Daequan take time to reflect on their past.
S1.E5 ∙ Do You Usually Bring Girls Here?
In therapy, Renate explores her struggles with anger and lands on an unorthodox strategy. When Rodney, Cheyenna and Cameron go for a night out on the town, Rodney asks Cheyenna about their status. Dalton and Alexa take a flirtatious dip in the pool.

Cheyenna, Renate and Tayla attend the first National Period Day rally at the nation's capitol. Alexa heads to the brewery to visit Dalton - and Zane. Cheyenna grabs a late-night bite with Rodney. Renate practices her new form of therapy, which encourages a friend to open up.

Cheyenna shares the story of her childhood trauma and pushes herself to take a big artistic risk. Elsewhere, Daequan talks about his future with Raelynn, and a Halloween party heats up with secret hookups. Rodney comes home to a familiar face.

Rodney and Dalton hit the football field as Homecoming week arrives. Cheyenna reveals her persistent Elite frustrations. Alexa and Daequan reconnect with family. Cheyenna and Alexa both come to major transformative decisions about their futures.
