The Pteranodon family rides a special 'Night Train" to another part of the Cretaceous Time Period, where they meet a Troodontid "cousin" of the Conductor's, Sidney Sinovenator, who knows more about the stars than anyone. Sidney takes the family up to his favorite stargazing spot, "Starry Hill," and teaches the kids why the stars seem to move across the night sky.
S2.E6 ∙ Get Into Nature
When the kids build a nest on the beach, they get the idea to turn it into a clubhouse and "the Nature Trackers" club is born!
S2.E7 ∙ Shiny and Snakes
Shiny faces her fear of snakes when Tiny challenges the Nature Trackers to meet the ultimate snake: the Sanajeh, a huge Cretaceous snake from what is now India.
S2.E8 ∙ Tiny Loves Flowers
Tiny is horrified when her favorite buttercups all wilt, so Mom takes her and the family to the Big Pond, where she remembers seeing a whole lot of buttercups in bloom. On the way there, the Conductor gives the kids a visual lesson in "Nature's Life Cycle," explaining how a flower grows, blossoms, then wilts, and returns its seeds to the ground, to start the cycle all over again. Tiny finds her flowers at the Big Pond, both blooming and wilting, and can see nature's life cycle in action.
S2.E9 ∙ Buddy Explores the Tyrannosaurs
Buddy, an adopted T. Rex, wishes he knew more about his T. Rex ancestors. So, Dad takes him and Tiny on the Dinosaur Train back to the early Cretaceous, to visit an ancestor: an earlier version of Tyrannosaurus Rex called Raptorex. Rodney Raptorex is a kid who won't grow up to be as big as Buddy will, but the two boys find that they not only have a lot of differences, they have a lot in common, too.
S2.E10 ∙ Rainy Day Fight
The kids are stuck cooped up in the nest for a long, rainy spell which leads to them fighting. Mom tells them that the rain has stopped enough that they can leave the nest - but she gives them an assignment: to go find their own "calm space," where they can calm down enough to get along with each other again. It works - each kid finds something in nature that helps him or her to calm down and be friends again.
S2.E11 ∙ That's Not a Dinosaur/Tiny's Garden
The kids visit the Big Pond to attend the Biome Block Party. While attempting to win the leaf-necklace contest, Keenan Chirostemotes claims the Pteranodon sibs can't compete for the prize for "dinosaur" with the most leaves because they are not dinosaurs. This launches the kids into a song called "That's Not a Dinosaur", as all the non-dinosaurs sing their piece. In the end, the game rules are changed to include all creatures, even non-dinosaurs, in all the contests.
S2.E12 ∙ Tiny's Garden
The Nature Trackers go on a visit to the Big Pond, where Tiny hopes to see her favorite flowers. The Conductor tells her that if the kids gather seeds at the pond, they can bring them home and plant a garden full of those same flowers at the family nest. The kids all get into it, gathering seeds and bringing them home, where they plant a garden, and meet its new inhabitants, including Sammy, a friendly slug, who explains that slugs, spiders, and butterflies all help to make a garden complete.
S2.E13 ∙ The Earthquake
Mom takes the kids on a play date with Tank Triceratops to the desert, where they meet a distant relative of Tank's, an early Ceratopsian named Penelope Protoceratops. The Conductor points out that Penelope lives in a part of the world that gets a lot of earthquakes, and sure enough, the kids experience their first quake with Penelope. Mom and the Conductor have prepared the kids with excellent advice about what to do in an earthquake, so everyone does fine.
S2.E14 ∙ The Nursery Car
When the family rides the Dinosaur Train, they learn that a new car has been added - a Nursery Car, with dozens of eggs in little nests. The kids watch the eggs hatch, and try to guess which hatchling goes with which dinosaur parent.
S2.E15 ∙ The Forest Fire
When a forest fire comes to woods not far from the family nest at Pteranodon Terrace, the family takes the Dinosaur Train to visit a nearby area where a fire has already been, and the Conductor leads the kids on a Nature Tracker hike through the woods to see how new life is growing back - even after the forest fire's devastation.
S2.E16 ∙ The Lost Bird
Buddy, Tiny and their friend Petey Peteinosaurus are riding the Dinosaur Train when suddenly, they are joined by a lost bird named Judy Jeholornis. The group act as detectives to figure out where Judy's home is, and make sure she's brought safely home on the train.
S2.E17 ∙ Dry Times at Pteranodon Terrace/Big Misty Sea Fishing Contest
When the weather has been extremely dry for several weeks, all the water holes at Pteranodon Terrace dry up. The Lambeosaurus family decides to move away in search of water, which upsets the kids. Dad and Mom decide to take the kids to the Big Pond on a camping trip, where they will wait out the drought and return home when it rains again. Don doesn't want to leave his home, even temporarily, and decides to perfect a "rain dance" that will make the rain return.
S2.E18 ∙ Big Misty Sea Fishing Contest
Dad learns that he's been chosen to compete in the big annual Fishing Contest at the Big Misty Sea, and is one of three contestants. The whole family rides there on the Dinosaur Train to cheer Dad on. They learn that the contestants are Dad, the Old Spinosaurus, and Dad's childhood friend and rival, a huge raptor named Marco Megaraptor. The three all end up fighting over Chester, the legendary biggest fish in the Big Misty Sea.
S2.E19 ∙ Hurricane at Pteranodon Terrace
From PBS KIDS - Hurricane at Pteranodon Terrace: The long-awaited rains finally return to Pteranodon Terrace, but grow into a huge rainstorm that grows even bigger - into a hurricane! Dad hasn't seen it blow like this since he was a kid. Rafting the Cretaceous: The family is cleaning up the mess left over from the hurricane, and discover that a raft of logs has washed up two refugees from across the Western Interior Sea - a turtle named Aidan Adocus, and a small mammal named Tommy Ptilodus.

They decide to take their new friends to the Dinosaur Train, and ride back with them to their home in Appalachia.
S2.E21 ∙ Haunted Roundhouse/Big Pond Pumpkin Patch
Dad takes the kids on a special Night Train to Troodon Town, where the Troodons have decorated their Roundhouse into a "haunted house" for a spooky party. The kids end up meeting a strange new nocturnal creature - a mammal named Vlad Volaticotherium, who was hiding in the roundhouse trying to get some sleep.
S2.E22 ∙ Big Pond Pumpkin Patch
The Pteranodon family learns more about the customs of their neighbors, the Lambeosaurus family, when they are invited for the first time to accompany them to the Big Pond to celebrate "Gourd Day" - a kind of Mesozoic Halloween. The kids see their first pumpkins, and Larry Lambeosaurus even shows our family how to hollow them out and carve faces into them.
S2.E23 ∙ Don's Winter Wish/Festival of Lights
When the Pteranodon family travels back to the North Pole, Don declares that it's his "winter wish" to see snow fall again. When a big blizzard comes, and even the Dinosaur Train gets snowed in, Don worries that his wish brought the blizzard. He's especially worried for his new friend, Soren Sauronitholestes, who is sitting on a nest of her eggs, out in the blizzard. But everything turns out all right: Dad explains that wishing for something doesn't make it happen, and the well-adapted, warm-blooded, feather-covered Soren successfully hatches her babies.
S2.E24 ∙ Festival of Lights
While visiting the North Pole, the Conductor suggests that the family stop off at Aurora Borealis Station on an enormous frozen lake to see the Aurora Borealis, where the Northern Troodons celebrate a "Festival of Lights." While the kids wait for night to fall and view the Aurora Borealis, they work up an ice-skating show to entertain Mom and Dad. Everyone joins in to sing "Solstice Time is Here" and skate under the lights.
S2.E25 ∙ Dinosaur Train Submarine Part 1
When the Pteranodon family takes the Dinosaur Train under the sea to visit their friend Elmer Elasmosaurus, they learn that the Elasmosaurus family is going away from the station to follow their food, the fish. Buddy wants to follow, but the train tunnel doesn't go that way - so the Conductor decides to take the family in a brand-new invention, the Dinosaur Train Submarine. On their journey, they meet a marine reptile called Otto Opthalmosaurus, who guides the submarine deeper than it's ever been, and even helps them find their way out of a sea cave.
S2.E26 ∙ Dinosaur Train Submarine Part 2
The Pteranodon family goes under the sea again, to ride the Dinosaur Train Submarine - this time they go to meet Shoshana Shonisaurus, an enormous marine reptile that's something between a dolphin and a whale. Since Shoshana loves to dive down very deep, Shiny has a problem with following her down to the bottom of the sea. Shoshana kindly helps Shiny get over her fear of diving deep.
S2.E27 ∙ King Meets Crystal
From PBS KIDS - Dinosaur Train Submarine: Otto Opthalmosaurus: When the Pteranodon family takes the Dinosaur Train under the sea to visit their friend Elmer Elasmosaurus, they learn that the Elasmosaurus family is going away from the station to follow their food, the fish. Buddy wants to follow, but the train tunnel doesn't go that way - so the Conductor decides to take the family in a brand-new invention, the Dinosaur Train Submarine! King Meets Crystal: During a day at Troodon Town Music Festival, the Pteranodon family and King Cryolophosaurus hear a wonderful singer named Crystal Cryolophosaurus. From PBS KIDS - Dinosaur Train Submarine: Shoshana Shonosaurus: The Pteranodon family goes under the sea again, to ride the Dinosaur Train Submarine - this time they go to meet Shoshana Shonisaurus, an enormous marine reptile that's something between a dolphin and a whale. All Kinds of Families: When Buddy expresses his feelings about being adopted to Tiny and Mrs. Pteranodon, they tell him that he will always be a part of the Pteranodon family. Mom takes Buddy and Tiny to meet another adopted dinosaur kid named Sonny Sauroposeidon, a huge tall creature, now a part of tiny Mikey Microraptor's family. Buddy and Sonny bond over being adopted and knowing that they are both in adoptive families that are different species but still love and appreciate them.
S2.E29 ∙ Dinosaurs A to Z Part 1
While riding the Dinosaur Train with Buddy and Mom, Tiny gets the idea to gather all the dinosaurs in the 'Dinosaurs A to Z' song for a picnic at Troodon Town. The Conductor agrees, and the Train starts picking up dinosaurs, as Tiny and Buddy help keep track of how many of the different species have come on board, and where they are on the dinosaur A to Z list.
S2.E30 ∙ Dinosaurs A to Z Part 2
The Dinosaur Train continues traveling around the Mesozoic picking up more and more dinosaurs that are in the 'Dinosaurs A to Z' song, on the way to a picnic at Troodon Town. As more train cars are added, and the rest of the Pteranodon family comes on board, Tiny and Mrs. Conductor team up to help keep order on the increasingly crowded Train.
S2.E31 ∙ Dinosaurs A to Z - Part 3
The Pteranodon family rides the Dinosaur Train - now with extra cars attached -- as it continues picking up more dinosaurs that are in the 'Dinosaurs A to Z' song. The Pteranodon family reunites with some dinosaurs they've met before, and are introduced to species they've never met. The Pteranodon kids also learn about classification, and Don leads the way organizing the dinosaurs on the Train by their species, features, and size.
S2.E32 ∙ Dinosaurs A to Z Part 4
The Pteranodon family is on the Dinosaur Train, now very crowded with all 26 dinosaurs mentioned in the 'Dinosaurs A to Z' song. The Train has added more extra cars than it ever has, and there's even an additional engine to help pull the Train to Troodon Town. At Troodon Town, all the dinosaurs have fun at a picnic, and then Tiny leads the 26 different 'A to Z' dinosaurs in a fun, rousing, and historic singing of the 'Dinosaurs A to Z' song.
S2.E33 ∙ Remember the Almasaurus
The Pteranodon kids and Dad get the idea to travel around on the Dinosaur Train and meet some of the biggest dinosaurs. They even sing a song, 'The Biggest Dinosaurs', before meeting Allie Alamosaurus, an enormous, long-necked, plant eating sauropod who is very friendly. Allie explains that her huge, strong legs hardly bend at all, but she can still have fun playing games with the kids, and teaching them some of her favorites.
S2.E34 ∙ A Heck of a Neck
The Pteranodon kids have a 'Nature Trackers' adventure when they meet Denise Diplodocus, a big dinosaur with a long, heavy neck.
S2.E35 ∙ An Apatosaurus Adventure
The Pteranodon kids visit the Jurassic Time Period to meet Apollo Apatosaurus, a huge, long-necked, long-tailed dinosaur who likes adventure. Apollo loves to whip his long tail, and does so as he leads the kids on a pretend adventure to find a hard-to-reach tree with yummy, delicious leaves.
S2.E36 ∙ Arnie Rides the Flatcar
Buddy, Tiny, and Mom visit their very large sauropod friend, Arnie Argentinosaurus, and his dad. Arnie has grown bigger since our kids have seen him and is now too big to ride on the Dinosaur Train anymore. Tiny and Buddy arrange with Mr. Conductor for Arnie to be the first big dinosaur to ride on the newest Dinosaur Train car - the flatbed car.
S2.E37 ∙ Date Night
When Mrs. Pteranodon announces that she and Mr. Pteranodon are going on a special anniversary date that night, and the Pteranodon kids will have their first babysitter ever, the kids are not very happy. The babysitter is Keira Chirostenotes, a responsible, patient teenager. Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, and Don each take almost the whole evening to warm up to her. While Mom and Dad are on their date on the Dinosaur Night Train, Mom is relaxed, but Dad really misses the kids and can't stop thinking about them. In the end, Mom and Dad rush back to the nest to find all the kids and Keira having a great time.
S2.E38 ∙ Rocket Train
Tiny and Buddy find out that a newer train will be riding the same tracks as the Dinosaur Train. The new train is called the Rocket Train, and its conductor is named Thurston Troodon, who was a former classmate and rival of Mr. Conductor. Thurston is very confident and boasts that the Rocket Train is newer, better, and faster than the "old Dinosaur Train." Mrs. Troodon, Thurston, and Mr. Conductor's old teacher, suggests a friendly train race. With Tiny and Buddy on board, the "old" Dinosaur Train ends up helping out Thurston and the new Rocket Train after it breaks down.
S2.E39 ∙ Tiny and the Crocodile
Team Pteranodon travels to Dienosuchas Swamp to meet Deanna Dienosuchas, a 40 foot crocodile with many big teeth, and a crabby attitude. Tiny leads the way to warm up Deanna who turns out to be more friendly and less scary than our kids imagined.

When Mrs. Pteranodon cleans out the family nest, the kids are amazed at all the stuff being thrown away.
S2.E41 ∙ The Egg Stealer
Buddy and Don stumble upon a mystery when unhatched eggs they found on their beach are stolen. Don and Buddy become detectives and all the kids join in to solve the mystery.
S2.E42 ∙ Old Reliable
Mr. Pteranodon and Mr. Lambeosaurus take all the kids to see a field of geysers - holes in the ground that hot water shoots out from. At the same time, Mrs. Pteranodon and Mrs. Lambeosaurus are relaxing nearby in soothing pools of warm water, called hot springs. In the end, the kids love seeing the geysers and then joining the Moms in their hot springs, while accidentally surprising Mr. Conductor who is secretly trying to relax in his own private hot spring pool.
S2.E43 ∙ Double-Crested Trouble (Dilophosaurus)
While riding the Dinosaur Train, Buddy and Tiny meet Dylan and Devlin Dilophosaurus, twin brothers with amazing double-crests on their heads. Dylan and Devlin like to compete over everything from getting the best seat on the train, to being the best hunter. After Tiny and Buddy spend time with the brothers, they show them how working as a team can help them succeed while hunting!
S2.E44 ∙ Erma the Conductor
The Pteranodon family is on the Dinosaur Train headed to the Big Pond for a special nighttime treat - watching a meteor shower in the sky. Mr. Conductor stops to pick up Erma Eoraptor, his best friend, whom he's excited to spend time with that night. At the Big Pond, the Conductor and Erma are interrupted a few times while trying to be alone, but soon find the perfect spot back on the Train. They watch the meteor shower from there, as our Pteranodon family watches the amazing meteors from the Big Pond beach.
S2.E45 ∙ Dome-Headed Dinosaur
The Pteranodon kids and their dome-headed friend Spikey Stygimoloch meet a brother and sister, Patrick and Pamela Pachycephalosaurus, two dinosaurs with enormous dome heads. Spikey bonds with the Pachycephalosaurus. Patrick and Pamela are athletes who invite our kids, Mom, and Spikey along to watch them use their impressive dome heads to play a volleyball type sport called, Dome Ball.
S2.E46 ∙ Treasure Hunt
Don has a large collection of things that he has found in nature, but he's missing one hard-to-locate item: amber. On the Dinosaur Train, the kids find out that Gilbert is also looking for amber. At Amber Arroyo caves, Don and Gilbert search separately, but when they both find amber they eventually bond over their discoveries.
S2.E47 ∙ Maisie Mosasaurus
The Pteranodon family goes back underwater in the Dinosaur Train Submarine and meet Maisie and Marvin Mosasaurus, a daughter and father who are huge, fast-swimming lizards with flippers. Maisie and Shiny bond when they discover neither likes to go down deep in the water. The Pteranodons and Mosasaurus have a great time up near the ocean's surface, each family showing the other how they hunt and catch fish to eat.
S2.E48 ∙ A Sea Turtle Tale
Our Pteranodon family is on the beach watching small eggs hatch and baby Archelon turtles emerge, and start to swim away. Our family and Mr. Conductor get into the Dinosaur Train Submarine and follow the baby Archelons who discover their own facts of nature - that their mother doesn't stay with them after they're born, and that they will grow up to be giant-sized sea turtles.
S2.E49 ∙ Sunrise Sunset
Dad takes the Pteranodon kids on an overnight camping trip where they watch both a sunrise and sunset, learning that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The kids also find out more about nocturnal (night active) animals, and diurnal (day active) animals.
S2.E50 ∙ Gilbert Visits the Nest
Shiny is nervous about Gilbert's impending visit to Pteranodon Terrace. She goes into a cleaning frenzy, wanting everything to look perfect, and her siblings to act perfectly. When Gilbert arrives, everyone starts having fun except Shiny who feels ignored. Soon Gilbert and the other kids persuade Shiny to join them, and they all eat, play, and laugh together.
S3.E1 ∙ Adventure Camp: Rafting
Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don go river rafting for the first time at Nature Adventure's Tracking Camp. Their old pal Jess Hesperornis meets up with them and they all learn about erosion and the importance of rivers, before finishing up their adventure by cruising through some rapids.
S3.E2 ∙ Adventure Camp: Mountain Climbing
For their second outing at Nature Trackers Adventure Camp, Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, Don and other friends learn about the tree line as they set out to hike up a mountain. Shiny is determined to get to the top of mountain forest. Buddy wonders if they'll be able to see anything from the mountaintop, through the tall trees. The kids are amazed that the higher they hike, the shorter trees and bushes get. Then they reach the tree line -- a certain point on the mountain, where trees are really small because they don't have enough air to breathe and the temperature is too cold. In the end, Shiny and all the kids use teamwork to all reach the mountaintop together.
S3.E3 ∙ Adventure Camp: Ziplining
The Nature Trackers Adventure Campers are back for another adventure and this time they'll be travelling to a rain forest. Once they arrive in the dense, overgrown rain forest, the campers explore different levels of the ecosystem, including the forest floor and the canopy of leaves at the top of the forest. After a hike through the rain forest, the campers' fun adventure culminates as each kid takes a ride on a zip line, where they all get a bird's eye view of the entire rain forest.
S3.E4 ∙ Adventure Camp: Canyon Hiking
The Nature Trackers Adventure Campers are led by Mr. Conductor and Gilbert on a hike down a canyon, where they can see the different layers of the Mesozoic Era. At first Lily Lambeosaurus is reluctant to go, thinking that a new adventure sounds hard, but Don convinces her that a new adventure can be worth the effort. At the bottom of the canyon, the kids play Dinoball and then dig for fossils. Each Nature Tracker goes home with a "new" Ammonite fossil, and Lily is so glad she tried something new.
S3.E5 ∙ Solar Train
Our Pteranodon family accompanies Mr. Conductor to the Troodon Town Roundhouse to meet up with Thurston Troodon, the Rocket Train's conductor. They all soon learn that Tricia Troodon - a younger, hotshot conductor -- actually invited everyone there to see her new train - the Solar Train. The kids learn that it's powered by the sun. To test the trains' performances, the three Conductors, along with the help of Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don, have a race to the Triassic between the Dinosaur Train, Thurston's Rocket Train and Tricia's new Solar Train.
S3.E6 ∙ Birdwatching
Buddy and Tiny give Elliot Enantiornithine, a first timer on the Dinosaur Train, a tour of the Train. When they go through Laura Giganotosaurus' car, she explains to them that today is her bird watching/drawing day, but she hasn't found a single bird to watch. But, there's Elliot. He hams it up for Laura, who watches and draws him. This is so fun that Buddy and Tiny bring Laura to meet another bird friend-- Arlene Archeopteryx. Then Arlene and Elliot introduce the kids and Laura to a new bird named Peng Protopteryx. It's a successful bird watching/drawing day as all three birds are delighted to show off their unique feathers.
S3.E7 ∙ Rocket Train Surprise Party
After Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don learn that it's Mr. Conductor's birthday, they decide to throw him a surprise party on his favorite place - the Dinosaur Train. The whole family plans the party, and even secretly rides the Rocket Train to pick up friends from all around the Mesozoic and to gather ginkgo leaves for a special birthday cake. The party is a huge success - the Conductor is surprised and moved, and loves his tasty ginkgo leaf birthday cake.
S3.E8 ∙ Cloudy with a Chance of Fun
As the Pteranodon kids play in their family nest, Buddy stares at a sky full of clouds and asks the group, "What are clouds?" Mr. Pteranodon and his neighbor, Mr. Lambeosaurus have different opinions. As they all get on the Dinosaur Train, they consider whether clouds are made of water or whether they're just made of fluff. Tiny knows who would have the facts -- Mr. Conductor. He explains that clouds are made of billions of tiny drops of water that are so light they float in the air. He also takes the group to a stop at Cloudy Point Station where the kids play a cloud-spotting game, identifying three types of clouds they learned about: cirrus, stratus, and cumulus. In the end, a rainstorm certainly proves that clouds are made of water.
S3.E9 ∙ Tiny's Fishing Friend
Tiny can't believe it when he finds out that his friend Cindy Cimolestes doesn't like fish, but she explains that she's a mammal and many mammals don't eat fish. Determined, Tiny sets out to find a mammal in the Mesozoic who likes fish, so she, Buddy, Cindy and Dad set out on a fishing trip, where they run into Cassie Castrocauda, a Jurassic mammal that looks like a cross between a beaver, an otter and a platypus, who also happens to love fish.
S3.E10 ∙ Butterflies
One morning at the family nest, Don befriends a Butterfly that he names Dan. Don, Buddy, Tiny and Shiny watch Dan and three "sibling" butterflies fly around. The other three butterflies flutter away, leaving Dan with our kids. Don feels for the separated butterfly and vows to re-unite it with his siblings. After Mom and Dad give a quick lesson about butterfly camouflage, Don leads his siblings all around the nest area searching for Dan the Butterfly's lost "sisters and brother." The whole time, Don keeps an eye on Dan, who camouflages himself when any threat (birds or a frog) are nearby. The long search doesn't yield Dan's siblings. Then, at the end of the day, our family is amazed when Dan's family comes out from hiding in a flower headband Tiny made, where they were camouflaged in with the flowers.
S3.E11 ∙ Best Ever Babysitter
Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don are excited that Keira Chirostenotes gets to babysit them for the night while Mr. and Mrs. Pteranodon go out for a dinner on the Dinosaur Night Train. Keira shows the kids how a dead log's decomposition provides food and shelter for many living creatures. Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Pteranodon are gleeful as they enjoy their date, exploring the Dinosaur Train's other compartments. Mom and Dad return from their date to find their kids filled with more smiles than when they left them and, later, their pillows filled with several of the little bugs from underneath the decomposing log.
S3.E12 ∙ Plant a Tree
The Pteranodon kids are spending the day with Grandma and Grandpa Pteranodon. On the Dinosaur Train on the way to their grandparents', Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don learn about sycamore trees. Grandma and Grandpa are so excited to have a whole day with their grandparents and doubly-excited to do a special "project" with them. They bring the kids to a field lined with sycamore trees and show them one tall one in particular that was - Can you believe it!? - planted by their Dad when he was a kid. Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don get to plant their own sycamore saplings and vow to visit their trees to track their growth as the months and years go by.
S3.E13 ∙ One Big Frog
The Pteranodon kids are playing a game called "I'm the Biggest," which raises the question: how big is the biggest frog? Dad takes the kids on the Dinosaur Train to find the biggest frog ever, the legendary Beelzebufo. Once off the train, they have to take a river raft to find this illusive creature, but find him they do. The kids are surprised to find that Benny Beelzebufo isn't nearly as large (or mean) as they'd imagined, but he is definitely the biggest frog they've ever seen. Benny teaches the kids about his "sit-still-and-wait" hunting style and shows off his large, floating leaf "home."
S3.E14 ∙ Caving with Vlad
The Pteranodon family rides the "Night Train" all the way back to the Jurassic to visit their nocturnal friend, Vlad Volaticotherium, who tells them that he wants to take them caving. Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don don't even know what caving is, but they are soon having a great time seeing all of the beautiful stalactites and stalagmites that have formed inside the cave. They also learn that it can be a lot of fun to hear your voice echo down the cave's long caverns.
S3.E15 ∙ Classic in the Jurassic: Turtle and Theropod Race
The Pteranodon family is super excited to be traveling to the 'Classic in the Jurassic', an Olympics type competition in which different dinosaur teams representing the three Mesozoic time periods will compete in various contests. Today's competition is a race between turtle and theropod teams. When the fast running theropods all get tangled up at the finish line, the race comes down to the slow moving turtles. It's an exciting race as the turtles are neck and neck. Who will win this pre-historic match up?
S3.E16 ∙ Hungry, Hungry Carnivores
Buddy, Tiny and Mrs. Pteranodon are eating lunch at Pteranodon Terrace, and even though they've just eaten a big fish meal, Buddy's tummy is still grumbly-hungry. Mom understands that because Buddy is a carnivore he needs meat, so she takes the kids to the Dining Car on the Dinosaur Train so Buddy can eat some carrion. While dining, Laura Giganotosaurus tells Buddy that the best meal she ever ate was prepared by her cousin, Chef Carson Carcharodontosaurus. So Buddy, Tiny, Mom and Laura all travel to meet the boisterous and generous Chef C and eat some of his famous carrion dishes. Buddy's tummy is happily full when our family leaves to head home. They even bring back a snack for Mr. Conductor.
S3.E17 ∙ Classic in the Jurassic: Air Obstacle Race
The Pteranodon Family is excited to be going back to the 'Classic in the Jurassic'. This time, it's a race between pterosaurs from each of the three Time Periods. The best part-all of the family members will have a role to play in the race. Mom and Tiny will be in-air referees, Buddy and Don will do "play-by-play", and Dad and Shiny will man the start and finish lines. It's an exciting race as the pterosaurs fly between hanging vines, swoop through a canyon, push through a wind tunnel, slalom over and under branches, then carry food from a pond as they race to the finish line. Teddy Pterodaustro finishes first, but the race is contested when Remy Rhamphorhynchus (another competitor) protests that Teddy never retrieved a fish from the pond. Everyone is surprised to learn that Perodaustro don't eat fish, they strain plankton through their bristle teeth. Teddy shows everyone how he does it to prove that he did indeed get food from the pond. Teddy is declared the winner.
S3.E18 ∙ King & Crystal Live!
Buddy, Tiny and Mom are riding the Dinosaur Train when they bump into their old friend, Crystal Cryolophosaurus. She's on her way to visit King Cryolophosaurus down in the Jurassic Antarctic and invites our family along. Mom and the kids jump at the chance, and upon arrival surprise King as he's singing a brand new song, Top Carnivore. King and Crystal's heartfelt reunion is marred when Crystal tries to convince a reluctant King to take this fantastic new song out on the road to share with his adoring Mesozoic fans. But King doesn't like leaving home and excuses himself to do some thinking. Buddy and Tiny follow and King sings a song called Good ol' Gondwana to explain his feelings about his home. Tiny has a great idea-King and Crystal can perform a live concert in Gondwana and invite dinosaurs from around the Mesozoic to attend. The concert is a huge success, and King is surprised and delighted when Crystal decides to stay there with him instead of going back out on the road.
S3.E19 ∙ Classic in the Jurassic: Air, Water & Land
It's time for the 'Classic in the Jurassic' - the Mesozoic Olympics. Today's "Air, Water and Land" contest is a three-part competition pitting teams consisting of a pterosaur and a crocodile from each Time Period against one another. Mrs. Pteranodon, Tiny and Shiny are recruited to help in one of the three "legs" of the race, while Buddy, Don and Dad watch from the stands. The competition's three "legs" are flying, swimming and a lap around a track. Early on, Team Cretaceous pulls ahead and hold onto its lead, until the wild card of the race is revealed: Team Triassic's croc, Effie Effegia who shocks the crowd when she runs, and then sprints, on two legs. Effie wins the race, and her bi-pedal abilities prompts many questions - and a healthy discussion - about her features. Tiny is disappointed her team lost, but cheers up when reminded that she was part of 'Classic in the Jurassic' history.
S3.E20 ∙ Desert Day and Night
While playing 'Cold and Hot,' a game they made up, the Pteranodon kids learn from Mr. Pteranodon that there might be more variety in the desert then they imagined. Their curiosity piqued, they plead for a trip to investigate the desert scene. Mr. Conductor tells them just how diverse plant and animal life can be in the desert. He happens to know a desert mammal Fruitafossor. Upon disembarking from the Dinosaur Train, the Pteranodon kids meet Frankie Fruitafossor, a chipmunk-sized mammal. They quickly learn that their assumption that desert life was hot all the time and relatively uninhabited was incorrect. Come dusk, they find the desert hopping and crawling with life, as creatures emerge all over - mostly underground - where they hide from the blazing sun. Frankie gives our family a tour, including a peek at underground burrows he dug. Back on the desert floor, Don and the siblings can't believe how cold the desert has become. Nighttime in the desert is a different world than daytime. The family goes back to the Dinosaur Train to warm back up and have a snack.
S3.E21 ∙ Classic in the Jurassic: Ultimate Face-Off
The 'Classic in the Jurassic' games are back, and this time, it's the Ultimate Smackdown. Mr. Conductor explains the "wrestling" match-ups from the three Time Periods are: T. Rex vs. Triceratops, Allosaurus vs. Stegosaurus and, Zupaysaurus vs. Riojasaurus (dinos new to the Pteranodon clan.) Fears that competitors may get injured are allayed by the explanation of how the 'Smackdown' works - the best choreographed and most entertaining show wins. Morris Stegosaurus beats Alvin Allosaurus. When Ziggy Zupaysaurus goes up against Renaldo Riojasaurus, Mr. Conductor explains that Riojasaurus may be smaller, but has a powerful tail and speed on his side. Then Boris the T. Rex loses to Trevor Triceratops. Tank and Buddy are thrilled -what a face-off. Once the judges tally the results, Team Cretaceous is declared the winner, and the fans love it.
S3.E22 ∙ Back in Time
Buddy and Tiny start wondering aloud whether the Triassic was the beginning of time, and if there was anything before the Age of Dinosaurs. So, to the Dinosaur Train they go where Mr. Conductor takes them back to the beginning of the Triassic time period to get some answers. In the Triassic, Buddy, Tiny, Mom, and Mr. Conductor meet up with Erma Eoraptor who is happy to explore the "before the Triassic" question with them. Our group walks through a Pedestrian Time Tunnel (that's beyond the end of the train tracks) to get to the Permian Time Period, the time period immediately before the Triassic. There, they meet Deon Dimetrodon, who has never met a dinosaur or pterosaur before. Buddy and Tiny are amazed to learn that there are neither in the Permian (or earlier). Deon marvels at our family's features - especially Tiny and Mrs. Pteranodon's wings. Deon shows our group around the hot and humid Permian, and he explains how his sail fin keeps him cool. Then Deon is delighted to experience the Mesozioc Era. He walks through the Pedestrian Time Tunnel with our group, and is blown away by the vegetation and the variety and size of dinosaurs. Another lifelong friendship is forged.
S3.E23 ∙ Zeppelin 1: Waterfalls
The Pteranodon kids are riding the Dinosaur Train with friend and fellow pterosaur, Quincy Queztalcoatlus. When they pass by a waterfall, Buddy comments on how big it is. Quincy's dad mentions a giant waterfall at the edge of the Western Interior Sea. Mr. Conductor gives a lesson about waterfalls and then suggests a unique and amazing way to view the giant falls - from above. They can fly in the experimental Dinosaur Train Zeppelin...if Thurston Troodon will agree to take them all there on the zeppelin's maiden voyage. Thurston does and our Pteranodon family gets to experience a spectacular zeppelin ride. The Queztalcoatluses fly alongside, impressing everyone with their flying abilities. After learning more about waterfalls, the Pteranodons catch lots of fish and dine before heading back to the Train via the one-of-a-kind Dinosaur Train Zeppelin.
S3.E24 ∙ Zeppelin 2: Atoll
When the Pteranodon family spots Annie and her T. Rex herd migrating to follow the food, the Pteranodon kids wonder if other creatures, even marine mammals, also migrate. The Conductor flies the Pteranodon family over the ocean in the Dinosaur Train Zeppelin to look for Polycotylus, a type of marine reptile that does migrate in the ocean. After spotting a pod of migrating Polycotylus from the sky, the Zeppelin lands in an atoll and our family meets Paulette and Polly Polycotylus, a mother and daughter (from what is modern-day Australia.) Our Pteranodon kids, and Mom, Dad and the Conductor learn all about Polycotylus migration and the reptile features. Then the whole group of new friends enjoys a fish-picnic on the reef of the atoll before the Pteranodon clan heads back home in the zeppelin.
S3.E25 ∙ Zeppelin 3: Pangaea
When the Pteranodon kids decide to draw some maps, Don's map of one big land mass for "the whole Mesozoic" triggers a discussion on whether the Mesozoic is "one big place that's all connected" or comprised of a bunch of smaller, interconnected land masses. On the Dinosaur Train, the Conductor explains that millions of years ago there actually was just one big land mass called "Pangaea". Then, over a long period of time, it started to drift apart and form separate, smaller landmasses, or continents. Our family can't believe it. The Conductor offers to take the Pteranodons up in the Zeppelin and through a Sky Time Tunnel, back to the time of Pangaea. At the Zeppelin Station, they meet up with Tricia Troodon, who helps pilot the Zeppelin on their journey. Once in the sky and through the time tunnel, our family is able to see Pangaea, the one giant landmass, just as it's starting to break apart. Then the family travels forward in time and views the continents separating more as oceans and seas move in between the land. Looking down at how their coastline looks in the Cretaceous, Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don all agree that seeing Pangaea breaking apart is one of the coolest things they've ever seen.
S3.E26 ∙ Zeppelin 4: Crater
As the Pteranodon kids are playing outside their nest, a few seedpods fall from a nearby tree, bonking Don on the head. This leads to a discussion about how far away things can fall from...maybe even from space?? Buddy hypothesizes that perhaps if a star came close enough, it could land on Earth. On the Dinosaur Train, the Conductor explains that things actually do fall from space. Big space rocks, called "asteroids", sometimes land on Earth, and when they occasionally do, they make a biiiiig hole, called a crater. Don perks up at this-he'd love to see a crater. So the Conductor takes the Pteranodon Family up in the Zeppelin to see a giant crater from above. On the ground, they explore the crater and find fragments of "space rocks" from the former asteroid. S4.E1 ∙ Trains, Submarines and Zeppelins: Part 1/Part 2
When Mr. Pteranodon and Larry go out to the Big Pond to find some red platanoids for the Winter Solstice Celebration, they accidentally miss the last train home. Will Larry and Mr. Pteranodon stop bickering long enough to figure out a way home, or will they get stranded in the middle of nowhere and miss the family Winter Solstice Celebration?
S4.E2 ∙ What's at the Center of the Earth? Layers! Fossils!
"What's at the Center of the Earth? Layers!" The Conductor takes the Pteranodon family on a very special journey on a new invention - the Drill Engine Train - in search of the perfect spot for a new Underground Dinosaur Train Station. Don is THRILLED to be venturing into the BIGGEST HOLE THE EARTH HAS EVER KNOWN. Shiny is nervous to be underground, until they meet a new friend (a Mesozoic Mole named NATASHA NECROLESTES), who teaches them all about the different layers of the Earth. "What's at the Center of the Earth? Fossils!" As the Pteranodon Family continues their journey underground, Don accidentally breaks Buddy's trilobite fossil (the oldest fossil in his collection!) When the search for another trilobite fossil turns up empty, their new friend Natasha Necrolestes takes them to Fossil Alley, where the kids learn that the older the fossil, the deeper underground it is.
S4.E3 ∙ What's at the Center of the Earth? Troglobites! Minerals!
"What's at the Center of the Earth? Troglobites!" The Drill Engine Train burrows into an underground limestone cave, where the Pteranodon Family meets some strange creatures without eyes called "troglobites." In a contest to see who would make the best troglobite, Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, and Don participate in a treasure hunt - with their eyes closed. The kids have to rely on their other senses (with some guidance from the actual troglobites) to navigate the cave and find the prize. "What's At the Center of the Earth? Minerals!" While digging even further underground, the drill bit on the Drill Engine Train breaks. The Pterandon Family find themselves in the Cave of Giant Crystals, where they learn all about rocks and crystals (what they are, how they're different, how they form). In order to get back home, the Pteranodon Family has to fix the drill bit by finding a mineral harder than the mineral that broke the bit in the first place.
S4.E4 ∙ Junior Conductors Academy Part 1/Junior Conductors Academy Part 2
Junior Conductors Academy: Part 1- The kids are all excited! Why? Because they're off to Junior Conductor's Academy in Laramidia, to try to become Junior Conductors First Class./Junior Conductors Academy: Part 2- Now that Buddy and Dennis are friends, they have to work together (with the other kids) in order to pass a series of tests.
S4.E5 ∙ Nest Swap/The Herd Is the Word
"Nest Swap" -The Pteranodon Family decides to take a little vacation and swap nests with Larry's friends: a family of pterosaurs (Nemicolopterus, to be exact). But when the Pteranodon Family arrives at the Nemicolopterus nest, they realize that the Nemicolopterus Family is MUCH smaller than them, so everything is smaller: the Pteranodon Family doesn't even fit in their nest! Can the family make do, try something new, and still have a good time?/ "The Herd is the Word" -- Synopsis: Tank Triceratops is really excited to show Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, and Don his favorite picnic spot, but when they arrive, the spot is overrun with a whole herd of Triceratops. Tank and the kids try to find another place with a little more privacy (and a lot less Triceratopses), but no matter where they go, the herd follows them. Will Tank be able to find a quiet spot without the herd, or does the herd have a good reason for following Tank around?
S4.E6 ∙ Stop and Smell the Flowers/Moms' Campout
"Stop and Smell the Flowers" -Mom takes Tiny, Buddy, and Don on a super secret daytrip to Qianzhousaurus Pond, where they meet Quentin Qianzhousaurus - a Tyrannosaur with similar features to Buddy, except for one major thing - Quentin has a long, thin snout covered in tiny horns! The kids think that Quentin's long snout gives him a super smelling sense, but after a series of tests, they realize that he and Buddy have the same sniffing power. Can Quentin and Buddy's super sniffers solve the mystery of Mom's secret daytrip?"Moms' Campout" -- Synopsis: Mrs. Pteranodon organizes a "Moms' Campout" with other moms and kids in the neighborhood. While on the way to the campout, Mr. Conductor challenges the kids to make a real "nature connection" by creating games that push them to look at nature from a different point of view.
S4.E7 ∙ Spooky Tree/Spinosaurus Super Model
"Spooky Tree": Shiny invites Annie Tyrannosaurus to Pteranodon Terrace for a sleepover, but all Annie wants to do is investigate the "spooky tree" that Don says "comes alive at night." All Shiny wants to do is stay as far away from the tree as possible. Can the kids get to the bottom of the mysterious tree, and figure out if it really comes alive at night? "Spinosaurus Super Model": When Don stumbles across a stick that looks EXACTLY like Old Spinosaurus, he's determined to have the grumpy old dinosaur pose for his sculpture (so he can get the Spinosaurus's features exactly right). But when they arrive at Old Spinosaurus's home, he makes it clear that there's no way he's posing for anything. Can Don convince Old Spinosaurus to pose for his sculpture, or will Don have to come up with another plan?
S4.E8 ∙ Where Have All the Lizards Gone?/Conductor's Sleepover
"Where Have All the Lizards Gone?" -The Conductor takes the Pteranodon Family for a special trip to Lizard Island, where they discover that it's been overrun by plants and bugs, and there are few precious lizards left. The Conductor concludes that the Changyuraptor Family (that he dropped off there awhile ago, and has since multiplied) has been eating all the lizards and throwing the entire ecosystem out of balance. Can the Pteranodon Family and Mr. Conductor convince the Changyuraptor Family to leave their home in order to get the island ecosystem back in balance?/"Conductor's Sleepover" - Synopsis: With a hurricane looming, the Pteranodon Family convinces the Conductor to leave his train for the night and come with them to the safety of their hurricane shelter (a large, underground cave). But the Conductor has a hard time getting comfortable away from his train. Can the family and the Conductor pull together and help a family of beached Ichthyosaurs back into the ocean after the hurricane leaves them beached on the shore?
S4.E9 ∙ Rollin' on the Riverboat: Part One/Rollin' on the Riverboat: Part Two
"Rollin' on the Riverboat: Part One" -The whole Pteranodon Family takes a rollicking adventure on the Dinosaur Train Riverboat! Buddy and Don vow to spend every minute together, but while Buddy wants to spend all his time investigating the creatures on the river, Don wants to spend all his time playing games and investigating the buffet. Can they come to some kind of agreement?/ "Rollin' on the Riverboat: Part Two" -While still rolling down the river on the Dinosaur Train Riverboat, Grandpa Pteranodon tells Buddy about the Legend of Admiral Globidens - a HUGE Mososaur that supposedly lives on the river, but no one has ever seen. Buddy enlists Dad and Tiny's help to look for Admiral Globidens, but they can't seem to find him. Does Admiral Globidens really exist, or is he just a figment of someone's imagination?
S4.E10 ∙ Crystal and King Benefit Concert: Part One/Crystal and King Benefit Concert: Part Two
Crystal and King Benefit Concert: Part One- When Crystal and the King go for a trip to the Big Pond, they learn that it's being recklessly overfished! They enlist the help of the Pteranodon Family to try to spread the word that if the dinosaurs and pterosaurs aren't more careful, the Big Pond will run out of fish to eat. But when Crystal realizes that nothing they're doing is actually raising awareness of the issue, she decides to organize a HUGE benefit concert, and everyone agrees to pitch in and help (as long as the King doesn't have to perform)!/Crystal and King Benefit Concert: Part Two- The "Don't Overfish the Big Pond" Benefit Concert is underway, and it's a HUGE success! But because there's so much to organize, Crystal never finds the time to rehearse her big finale - so when it's time for her to go onstage, she experiences something she's never experienced before - stage fright! Can the kids help Crystal get over her stage fright and get her back onstage, or will the King have to come out of "performance retirement" to help her out?
S5.E1 ∙ The Tiny-saur Train/How Many Horns?
Tiny and Mikey take the Dinosaur Train to find the tiniest dinosaur of all in Jurassic China; Buddy, Tank, and their pals search for Ceratopsians, which have up to 15 horns.
S5.E2 ∙ Mom Was a Kid Once
After Shiny and Annie have a disagreement, Mom recalls a similar disagreement with her best friend when she was a kid. Then, Mom and Tilly return to their old neighborhood to explore the swamp where they used to play as kids!
S5.E3 ∙ Gilbert the Conductor/A Clubhouse of Their Own
Gilbert is called upon to run the Dinosaur Train when the Conductor gets sick; the kids build their own clubhouse.
S5.E4 ∙ A Brand New Species
The Conductor, Buddy and the kids find an intact theropod raptor skeleton, which the team at Troodon Academy says is a new Jurassic dinosaur discovery; Buddy sets out to meet an example of their discovery, a theropod the group named Buddysaurus.
S5.E5 ∙ Don's Hole-iday/We're Not All Dinosaurs
The kids make up an imaginary holiday for Don; the Pteranodons meet a new small mammal friend, Adele Alphadon.
