In a not-too-distant future, Denmark faces total evacuation due to rising water levels. As the nation prepares to leave their homes, high school student Laura must choose between her divorced parents and the boy she's fallen in love with.

Everyone expects Jacob to save the entire extended family - except for Fanny, who doesn't want to be a burden. Laura and Elias are getting closer every day.
To Laura's big horror, Fanny decides to not follow the family to Paris. At the estate, Nikolaj and Henrik are surprised by angry craftsmen, lead on by Peter.
Fanny is leaving, and Laura has to say goodbye. However, Laura changes her plans and embarks on a dangerous journey. Nikolaj and Henrik are hit with a horrible suspicion.
Most people have left Denmark by now. A concerned Jacob puts his entire family's welfare in jeopardy by asking the French police to find Laura.
Elias is beaten within an inch of his life and left for dead at the Polish seaside. Laura is reunited with Fanny but fears she will never see Elias again.
Laura works hard building a life for herself in Bucharest, though she misses her family and friends during Christmas - especially Elias.
