Sergeant Carter gets Gomer to try out for the U.S. Marine band. Gomer is accepted into the band as a tuba player but then declines the offer when he learns that he'd be separated from the Sergeant for a year.

In search of a place to host a going away party for a comrade, Gomer goes into a Chinese restaurant that is a front for a gambling operation.
S3.E20 ∙ Sue the Pants Off 'Em
When a distracted Gomer Pyle almost walks in front of a car and falls backwards, an ambulance chasing attorney teams up with a phony doctor to try to sue the driver of the car, who turns out to be a Marine Major.
S3.E21 ∙ Gomer and the Card Shark
Gomer finds himself caught in the middle between his buddies and a card shark. Gomer is used as a patsy so show that you can win and he wins big.
S3.E22 ∙ To Re-enlist or Not to Re-enlist
Sergeant Carter helps Gomer prepare for transition into civilian life by setting Gomer up with a job, a place to live and even a girlfriend, in hope that Gomer won't re-enlist.
S3.E23 ∙ Lou-Ann Poovie Sings Again
Sergeant Carter acts like a jerk when he and Private Slater are attracted to a lounge singer. Who does she choose? Gomer Pyle, USMC.
S3.E24 ∙ Gomer, the Welsh Rarebit Fiend
In folk tradition, Welsh rarebit is believed to cause nightmares. But when a new restaurant opens near the base and both Pyle and the sergeant indulge in the dish, it's sleepwalking that the simple meal of toast and cheese sauce induces in both men--sleepwalking, and changes in personality.
S3.E25 ∙ Sing a Song of Papa
Gomer wins an amateur nightclub contest singing "Oh My Papa". The club owner tries to intimidate Sergeant Carter into letting Gomer sing it again. Gomer does sing it again, this time in Italian for the club owners papa.
S3.E26 ∙ Where There's a Will
Sergeant Carter sends Gomer on a one-week assignment to jump out of airplanes, as a way to get rid of him. When Gomer takes out a life insurance policy and names the sergeant as beneficiary, the sergeant feels guilty.
S3.E27 ∙ Lost, the Colonel's Daughter
Gomer is asked to take out Colonel Gray's daughter, Janice, because the colonel feels that Gomer is very safe. Gomer intends to take her to the movies but Janice, who has been attending an all women's college, has some very different ideas on how to spend an evening, which include going to a discotheque. Gomer winds up losing her and calls Sgt. Carter to help find her. Eventually they track her down to a wild party in Hollywood. Unfortunately, Janet's dress accidentally get's torn and they all are arrested for disturbing the peace. Now they must find a way to explain to the colonel what happened and try not to get into even hotter water.

Gomer is suspected of stealing when he makes friends with a thieving crow.
S3.E29 ∙ One of Our Shells Is Missing
A live mortar shell goes missing. When Gomer goes off alone looking for it, everyone fears the worse when they hear a distant explosion.
S3.E30 ∙ Lou-Ann Poovie Sings No More
Lounge singer Lou-Ann Poovie gets fired from her job. Private Slater and Sergeant Carter try to get her music deals but Gomer tells her she can't sing. When she hears her own voice played back she quits singing and makes up with Gomer.
