Comedian Maria returns to LA after a stint in a psych ward in Duluth. Not wanting her life to fall into the same rut that caused her breakdown, she decides to take things slow and put a bench outside her home to create community. But things go awry when her manager books her for a charity event starring her nemesis, Mark McGrath.
S1.E2 ∙ Bisexual Because of Meth
Maria gets set up on a blind date with an attractive man who is a bisexual, recovering meth addict. Meanwhile, she must decide whether or not she wants to be the spokesperson in samurai-inspired advertising for sexually-themed ramen.
S1.E3 ∙ White Trash
After Maria gets a job playing a maid in the TV series "White Trash," she begins to question the underlying racism of the show when she has to play the part as a Russian stereotype and two black comedians are hired to play garbage men. In flashbacks, Maria gets a commercial playing a manic shopper at a big box store - something the actress really did for Target.

Maria meets hunky Jack at a party and the only way she can keep him interested is to speak to him in a sultry voice as "Diane".
S1.E5 ∙ I Love You
Maria fudges her online dating profile and winds up stuck in a relationship with an uber-athletic man with whom she has nothing in common.
S1.E6 ∙ Loaf Coach
Maria reassesses her lifestyle and starts therapy to learn how to do nothing and be happy about it.
S1.E7 ∙ Josue
Maria doesn't like kids - she just can't find ways to connect with them. Then she meets Josue, a tagger she saves from punishment. All seems to be going well, until Maria has to perform for a children's charity and Josue tells her she isn't funny.
S1.E8 ∙ A Vaginismus Miracle
It's that time again; Maria must find a man for once-yearly sex.
S1.E9 ∙ No Friend Left Behind
After realizing her contacts list is filled with ruined relationships, Maria seeks out a bitter former friend and vows to win her back by any means necessary.
S1.E10 ∙ Knife Feelings
Maria decides it's time to let her boyfriend, Scott, see her standup and learn who she really is.
S1.E11 ∙ Mein Ramp
A shipment of unwanted t-shirts bearing Maria's likeness makes its way to an all-children army in Africa and a PR nightmare ensues. Meanwhile, it's Thanksgiving and Maria takes the next logical step in her relationship with Scott and invites him to holiday dinner.
S1.E12 ∙ Enter Super Grisham
Maria ruins her Bastille day appetite, munching away on nine snerks. Later she reads herself to sleep suckling both her pinky toes. In Detroit for beach sun and fun, an angry crowd of half digested snerks attacks. A pillow fight ensues.
