The city of Schwerin is sweltering under a heat wave never seen before. Detectives Lona Mendt and Frank Elling are on the trail of a serial murderer, who seems to choose his victims at random. But nothing is what it seems.

Schwerin sweats. It's the hottest summer in years. Commissioners Lona Mendt and Frank Elling are investigating the case of a man who was hung upside down in the bathroom with his throat cut. Shortly thereafter there is another victim.
S1.E2 ∙ Posthum
The deeper Elling and Lona Mendt go into the case, the more they are challenged personally. Both let themselves be carried away into morally dubious acts.

While the investigation is picking up speed, the bribery of Elling threatens to cost the two inspectors head and neck. Lona decides to help her colleague.

In order to get closer to the motive of the series of murders and thus to the people behind the conspiracy, Frank Elling and Lona Mendt have to cross moral and legal boundaries. At the same time, Elling throws his family life upside down and Lona suffers a hard blow.

The murderer continues his gruesome series of murders and the pressure to catch him increases massively. When the motive is revealed to the investigators, they know why the perpetrator kills, but not who he is.

Frank Elling and Lona Mendt have to penetrate the lion's den. All indications point in one direction and to powerful backers.
S1.E8 ∙ Erlösung
The commissioners must fight and take a stand between the fronts. In doing so, Elling not only puts his life at risk, but also his family. The shadows of the past claim their final victims.
