Party of Five follows the five Acosta children -- Emilio, Lucia, Beto, Valentina and baby Rafael -- as they navigate daily life struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents are suddenly deported to Mexico.

A fearful Valentina turns to religion in the hopes of getting her parents back; Emilio tries to do right by his father by dismissing Oscar of certain duties, which only offends Oscar and leaves Emilio to run the restaurant on his own.
Emilio discovers that his father was being taken advantage of by the owner of a restaurant across the street and tries to make a decision himself; Lucia attempts to help her new friend Matthew get a job.
Emilio tries to take the business to the next level by catering a private event, but things go south when the client expects the caterers to dress up and behave a certain way.
When Rafa ends up in the hospital, the family comes together to care for him, until their situation worsens when a social worker shows up to check in on them because of the recent events.
After Rafa's ER visit, Emilio realizes he needs help and finds himself opening up. Meanwhile, Beto tries to impress Ella and falls short. And Lucia becomes inspired by an immigration activist.
Lucia decides to host a fundraiser at the restaurant and finds her voice along the way. Emilio faces an identity crisis. Beto goes behind Ella's back. Val struggles to maintain her false identity, but is outed to a member of the family.
Lucia continues to try to impress Sully; Val tries to reconnect with their parents.
An unexpected family reunion in Mexico exposes cracks in the happy façades both the Acosta children and their parents have put up. Back in LA, Emilio collaborates with Natalia on a new song and bond over their romantic histories.
Val makes a surprising request, with lasting repercussions. Ella surprises Beto in Mexico, and her presence brings up unexpected truths. Lucia goes out of her comfort zone. Emilio leans on Natalia when the family's social worker returns.
