Fifteen ordinary people are put through intensive training and a series of challenges in order to see whether they could cope with working in the intelligence community. They are trained and observed by three ex-intelligence officers.

The trainees are challenged to covertly follow a target in a busy market, before their cover story skills, confidence and charisma are tested. They face a different challenge from a mole within the camp.

The moral ambiguity of espionage work is explored as the trainees enter a world of mistrust and paranoia as Control direct some of them to work against their colleagues as informers.

The trainees are challenged to get information from unwitting strangers in a pub, then must work out if they're being followed or not, and have to select one trusted ally from their colleagues.

The remaining recruits are dispatched to Morocco, where each of them will operate undercover and face hostile interrogation techniques under extreme conditions. Can they maintain their cover stories?
