Lights, camera, action! It's the Strictly movie special. The glitz and glamour of Hollywood comes to the ballroom as Strictly Come Dancing glides into movie week. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman host as the fabulous 14 couples get ready for their close-ups and perform routines inspired by some of the greatest films of all time.
With 13 couples left in the show, the competition is getting tougher each week. The two couples with the lowest combined judges' score and viewer vote go head to head in the dreaded dance-off. Including a performance from Gregory Porter, with his version of the classic Smile.
Today is the Christmas Special: Champion of Champions.
In this season's version of the series format, only the 7 male celebrity couples dance to stay in the competition in episode 1. (The female celebrities will get their first couple competition dances in next week's episode 2)
The two final pairs battle it out for the coveted trophy. Alesha and Matthew finally win out triumphantly.
A preview of the upcoming competition looks at how the new contestants are coping with training, but also looks back at the highs and lows of the last series.
In round one the male contestants take to the dance floor to perform either a cha-cha-cha or a waltz. The ladies perform a group dance. After the judges votes are added up, Gary Rhodes and Karen Hardy are bottom of the leader board.
In the first Results show of the season, current champions Alesha Dixon and Matthew Cutler perform one of their dances from last year, all the contestants do a group dance and guest Bette Midler performs 'Wind Beneath my Wings'. After the public vote had been taken into account, Flavia Cacace and Phil Daniels, and Lilia Kopylova and Don Warrington found themselves in the bottom two and had to perform in the dance off.
In round two, the female contestants perform either a salsa or a foxtrot, whilst the men perform a group dance.
In the round two results show, season 2 winners Jill Halfpenny and Darren Bennett perform their glitter-ball winning jive, Sugababes perform their single 'Girls', the three new dancers Hayley, Brian and Kristina perform a routine and all the pro dancers perform a group tango. Jodie and Ian, and Gillian and Anton are the bottom two after votes have been added up and have to perform in the dance off.
In round three the male celebrities take to the dance floor performing either a jive or a tango. The female contestants do a group swing dance.
In the third round results show some of the professional dancers do a group rumba, Flavia and Vincent perform a romantic slow dance, Andrea Bocelli sings one of his classic hits, and the female contestants perform their group swing dance. Gary and Karen, and Mark and Hayley find themselves in the bottom two and have to perform in the dance off.
Round four sees the female contestants perform either a rumba or a quickstep. The male contestants perform in a new group dance.
In the round four results show Simply Red sing 'Something Got Me Started', the professional dancers perform a group American Smooth, and the Samba world champions perform. After the results have been counted, Heather and Brian, and Jessie and Darren find themselves in the dance off.
In round five, the male and female contestants compete against each other for the first time this season. They perform either a samba or an American smooth.
In the round five results show, Katherine Jenkins and Darcey Bussell sing and dance, Alesha Dixon performs her new single, and the professional dancers perform a rocking paso-doble. Heather and Brian, and Don and Lilia find themselves in the bottom two and have to perform in the dance off.
Round six sees the contestants performing either a Paso-Doble or a Viennese Waltz.
In the round six results show, special guest Enrique Iglesias sings 'Hero', the cast of the West End show The Jersey Boys perform 'December 63', and Kristina Rihanoff and Brian Fortuna dance a Mambo. Andrew and Ola, and Mark and Haley find themselves in the bottom two and have to perform in the dance off.
Round seven sees each of the remaining contestants performing a different dance.
In the round seven results show the professional dancers perform two special dances, Kelly Jones of The Stereophonics sings 'Handbags and Gladrags' and Gabby Logan presents a sports show style segment looking at the contenders. Heather and Brian, and Andrew and Ola find themselves in the bottom two, having to perform in the dance off.
In round eight, again each of the remaining contestants perform a different dance. John and Kristina are well bottom of the judges leader board after their votes.
In the round eight results show, some of the professional dancers perform to World War II songs, and guest Beyonce sings her new song 'If I Were a Boy'. Heather and Brian again find themselves in the bottom two, along with Rachel and Vincent, and have to perform in the dance off.
The remaining 8 couples all perform a different dance. John and Kristina are again bottom of the judges leader board, whilst Rachel and Vincent come top, with their Rumba getting the not only the highest marks (39) of the season so far, but the highest marks for a Rumba in the history of Strictly.
In the round nine results show, Bruce and Anton du Beke do a song and dance number to 'Me and My Shadow', special guest Tom Jones sings 'If He Should Ever Leave You', and some of the professional dancers perform a group cha-cha-cha. Cherie and James, and Lisa and Brendon find themselves in the bottom two and have to perform in the dance off.
There are now only six remaining couples, after John Sergeant quited the competition during the week. He and Kristina performed a last farewell dance. Rachel and Vincent's foxtrot was top of the leader board with the first perfect score (40) of the season so far, and the highest foxtrot score ever. Christine and Matthew came bottom of the judges leader board.
In the round ten results show, guest John Barrowman sings 'Can't Get My Eyes Off You', the remaining couples perform a special group dance to the music of 'Saturday Night Fever', choreographed by Arlene Phillips, and Vincent and Flavia perform a Milonga, that dances first appearance on Strictly. Lisa and Brendan, and Jodie and Ian come bottom of the leader board and have to perform in the dance off.
The final five couples have to perform two dances each, a Latin and a Ballroom. Christine and Matthew are bottom of the judges leader board.
In the round eleven results show, the pro dancers perform two routines, including Darren and Lilia who do a Latin medley, and Estelle sings her hit 'American Boy'. Rachel and Vincent, and Christine and Matthew are in the bottom two and have to perform in the dance off.
In the quarter-final round, again each couple must perform two dances, a Latin and a Ballroom. Rachel and Vincent get the highest mark for a Tango in the series (39). For the first time Austin and Erin are bottom of the judges leader board.
In the quarter-final results show, Brian and Kristina perform a Hustle, the professional dancers perform a group Viennese Waltz, and Flavia, Vincent and two special guest dancers perform an Argentine Tango. Guest Barry Manilow sings his classic hit 'Copa Cabana'. Lisa and Brendon, and Austin and Erin find themselves having to perform in the dance off.
In the semi-final, the remaining 3 couples perform both an Argentine Tango and a dance of their choice. Lisa and Brendan receive a maximum 40 points for their quickstep, and are joint top of the judges leader board along with Rachel and Vincent. Tom and Camilla are bottom.
In the season's first live results show, six of the professional dancers perform a group jive, and the cast of stage show Chicago sing 'All That Jazz'. Due to the fact that there was a tie on the judges leader board, it was announced that all three couple would go forward to this years final. As a result, the show ran 10 minutes shorter than billed.
In the Grand Final, the three remaining couples perform their favorite Ballroom (in each case a Foxtrot), and their favorite Latin dances. For the first time ever on Strictly, Lisa and Brendon get a perfect 40 in both their dances. Bruce sings 'What the World Needs Now', and all of the previous couples do a short dance (except Jodie and Ian, as Jodie is ill). Tom and Camilla are bottom of the judges leader board at the end of the show.
In the Grand Final results show, Lisa and Brendon are first to be voted out. The two remaining couples both perform a Viennese Waltz and all dance a show dance. Four previous champions and their partners perform a special group dance, James and Ola perform a Cha-Cha, and guest Duffy sings her hit 'Mercy'. Tom and Camilla finally win out to take the Strictly trophy as 2008 champions.
Two former champions, Jill and Alesha, former contestant Kelly, and series 6 finalists Rachel, Lisa and 2008 champion Tom, compete in the 2008 Christmas Special.
In the first of two 2-part rounds, 8 of the new contestants must perform one of the ballroom dances. The remaining 8 pairs must perform a mambo in the first group dance of the new season. Alesha Dixon joins the team as a new regular judge.
In the 2nd part of round one, the first 8 pairs must perform either a Cha-Cha-Cha or a Rumba. The three new girl dancers, Aliona, Katya and Natalie perform a special routine with Matthew, Brendan and Ian, whilst all the professional dancers perform a 'Sweet Charity' medley. 2008 champions Tom and Camilla dance to 'If They Could See Me Now'. Martina and Matthew, and Rav and Aliona find themselves in the bottom two and have to perform in the dance off.
In round 2 the last eight pairs must perform either a waltz or a tango. The other remaining seven pairs perform a group dance, choreographed by Karen Hardy.
In the 2nd part of round 2, the second set of pairs must perform either a Cha-Cha-Cha or a Rumba. There are two group pro dances, a Paso Doble and a Quickstep, and special guest Jamie Cullum sings. Richard and Lilia, and Craig and Flavia find themselves in the bottom two and have to perform in the dance off.
Round 3 sees all remaining 14 pairs competing together for the 1st time, performing either a Paso Doble or a Quickstep. Lynda and Darren, and Rav and Aliona find themselves in the bottom 2 and have to take part in the dance off. There are professional group dances of the Foxtrot and Salsa, and Andy Williams sings 'Moon River'.
In Round 4 the pairs must perform either a Foxtrot or a Salsa. There is a tap tribute to The Nicholas Brothers, and Dionne Bromfield sings. Lynda and Darren, and Craig and Flavia find themselves in the bottom two and have to perform in the dance off.
In round 5, the remaining couples must perform either a Jive or a Viennese Waltz. There is a pro group Samba, and Vincent and Flavia perform a Tango Waltz. Guests Spandau Ballet sing their classic hit 'Gold'. Zoe and James, and Joe and Kristina find themselves in the bottom two and have to take part in the dance off.
In Round 6, the remaining couples must perform either a Samba or an American Smooth. The pro dancers perform a group Jive and guest Harry Connick Jr sings 'The Way You Look Tonight'. Jade and Ian, and Jo and Brendon find themselves in the bottom two and have to perform again in the dance off.
For the first time this season, Round 7 sees the remaining couples each perform a different dance. Some of the professionals perform a group Cha-Cha-Cha, whilst Matthew and Aliona perform a Samba. The Bee Gees sing their hit 'You Should be Dancing'. Zoe and James, and Ali and Brian find themselves in the bottom two and have to perform in the dance off.
The remaining couples travel to the Tower Ballroom, Blackpool, where they each perform a different dance. Ali and Brian get the season's first perfect 40 score. Karen Hardy choreographs a group Viennese Waltz, and there is also a special swing dance with former champion Jill Halfpenny. Musical guest Rod Stewart sings 'The Same Old Song'. Craig and Flavia, and Ricky and Erin find themselves in the bottom two.
In an injury prone round Jade is unable to dance, having popped her knee, and Laila is unable to finish hers having badly banged her ankle, both just hours before the show. Host Bruce is in bed with flu and also doesn't appear. There is a pro Bolero with Brian and Kristina, and the cast of West End show The Jersey Boys perform. Phil and Katja, and Ricky and Erin are in the bottom two and have to dance again.
Jade has to drop out of the competition as she is still not able to dance after popping her knee before last weeks show. There is as pro Rumba group dance, and Darren and Lilia perform a Swing routine. Shirley Bassey sings her new single. Laila and Anton, and Ricky and Erin are in the bottom two and have to perform in the dance off.
For the first time on the show, the remaining couples have to perform either a Rock'n'Roll dance, or a Charleston, plus a group in-competition-style Viennese Waltz. There is a pro-Foxtrot with a modern twist, the cast of Riverdance perform, and Nelly Furtado and James Morrison sing together. Natalie and Vincent, and Ricky and Natalie Lowe are in the bottom two and have to dance again.
For the rest of the series, Darcey Bussell joins as a guest judge. The remaining couples must perform two dances. There is also a pro Cha Cha Cha.
There is a pro group American Smooth, and Flavia and Vincent dance an Argentine Tango. Special guest Bette Midler sings. Ricky and Natalie, and Laila and Anton find themselves in the bottom two and have to dance again.
In the semi-final, all three remaining couples must perform an Argentine Tango and a new version of their favorite dance of the season. There is a special pro-dance and Ian Waite and Darcey Bussell dance a Jive.
Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe perform a Fox Trot. The cast of West End show 'Hairspray' and musical guest Lily Allen perform.
In the first part of the Grand Final, the two final couples perform their favorite ballroom dance, and for the first time, the Lindy Hop. Some of the previously eliminated couple dance again, and Alesha and Bruce sing together.
In part 2, Chris and Ola perform their Charleston, and Ricky and Natalie their previous Cha-Cha-Cha. They also both do a show-dance. Brian and Kristina perform a special pro dance together, and former contestants Lisa Snowdon and Rachel Stevens perform in a group dance with the pro dancers. More of the eliminated couples also return.
The three 2009 finalists, Ricky, Chris and Ali, and returning contestants Gethin, Austin and Rachel compete for the title of Christmas Champions 2009. Musical guests 'The Rat Pack' sing 'White Christmas'.
The Launch Show introduces the 14 new celebrities as they meet their professional partners for the first time. There is also a new set, new dances and three new male dancers. The new partnerships take to the floor for their very first group dance!
In the first live show of the new season, in a brand new set, seven of the contestants (Felicity, Matt, Goldie, Patsy, Scott, Pamela and Paul), and their professional partners perform either a Cha-Cha-Cha or a Waltz. There is no elimination in this first round.
The remaining seven contestants (Jimi, Ann, Gavin, Kara, Michelle, Peter and Tina), and their professional partners take to the dance floor performing either a Cha-Cha-Cha or a Waltz. There is music from special guests Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow.
All 14 couples perform against each other for the first time this season, dancing either a Salsa or a Foxtrot. Last weeks judges points are added to this weeks, with Ann and Anton finding themselves at the bottom of the leader-board.
Claudia joins Tess as co host of this seasons results shows. There is music from special guest Robbie Williams, plus a special group show dance. Peter and Erin, and Goldie and Kristina find themselves in the bottom two, with Goldie and Kristina being the first to be voted out of the competition.
Tina can't compete this week, as she has chickenpox, but the remaining 12 couples perform either a Quickstep or a Rumba. Pamela and James come top of the judges leader board with a score of 35, with Paul and Ola bottom with a score of just 12.
There are two professional dances, including Flavia in a 'Tango Unleashed'. Special guest Peter Andre sings his new single. Paul and Ola, and Michelle and Brendon find themselves in the bottom two, with Paul and Ola receiving the lowest votes and finding themselves out of the competition.
Week four sees the 12 remaining couples perform either a Tango or a Charleston. Michelle Williams dances with Ian Waite this week, as her pro-partner Brendon was unavailable. Scott and Natalie, and Matt and Aliona find themselves tied in first place with 35 judges points, with Peter and Erin at the bottom of the leader-board with just 17.
In the week 4 results show there are two pro-dancer performances, one a 1940s based Jive, the other an Argentine Tango . There is music from special guest Neil Diamond. Michelle and Ian, and Peter and Erin find themselves in the bottom two, with Peter and Erin ultimately leaving the competition.
In this Halloween Special, the remaining 11 couples perform a spooky version of either a Jive, Paso Doble, Argentine Tango or a Viennese Waltz. Kara and Artem receive this season's first '10', while Scott and Natalie top the leader-board with 39 judges points (three '10s' and a '9'). Ann and Anton are bottom with just 16.
There is a pro-group dance to 'Ghostbusters', and a Viennese Waltz from the Show-Dancers. Special guest Alice Cooper performs 'Poison'. Tina and Jared, and Felicity and Vincent both find themselves in the bottom two, with Tina and Jared receiving the lowest combined votes and leaving the competition.
For the first time this season, the 10 remaining couples each perform a different dance. Kara and Artem find themselves top of the judges leader-board, with their Salsa getting a score of 36. Bottom again are Ann and Anton, their Charleston getting just 17 judges points.
In the week 6 results show there is a Rock'n'Roll show dance, plus a Pro-dance Foxtrot. There is music from special guest Bryan Ferry. Jimi and Flavia, and Michelle and Brendon find themselves in the bottom two after the judges scores and viewers votes are added, with Jimi and Flavia being voted off the show, much to the shock of the entire studio audience.
The remaining 9 couples each perform a different dance. Scott and Natalie find themselves at the top of the judges leader-board when their Jive gets a score of 39. Kara and Artem are second with a score of 38 for their Argentine Tango. Ann and Anton again come bottom, with their Foxtrot getting a judges score of just 20.
In the week 7 results show, there is a pro-dance American Smooth, plus music from The Soldiers, Annie Lennox and Alesha Dixon. Michelle and Brendon find themselves in the bottom two for the fourth time, along with Felicity and Vincent, with Michelle and Brendon ultimately leaving the competition.
In a Vegas themed special from the famous Tower Ballroom in Blackpool, the remaining 8 couples perform either a Samba or an American Smooth. There is also a pro-dance to the sounds of Viva las Vegas. Matt and Aliona find themselves top of the judges leader-board with their Samba receiving a score of 38, with Ann and Anton at the bottom for the 5th time, with just 13.
In the week 8 results show, from the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool, there is a pro-dance from the female professional dancers, plus music from the cast of Cirque Du Soleil's Viva Vegas show, plus Duffy. Felicity and Vincent, and Patsy and Robin (for the first time), find themselves in the bottom two, with Felicity and Vincent leaving the competition.
The remaining 7 contestants perform a Jive, American Smooth, Charleston, an Argentine Tango or a Rumba. Ann and Anton find themselves bottom of the judges leader-board for the 6th time with their Titanic-themed Rumba receiving a score of 14, with Pamela and James' Charleston putting them top with a score of 38.
In the week 9 results show there is a pro-dance Jive, a raunchy Rumba from James and Ola, and music from special guest James Blunt. Gavin and Katya, and Patsy and Robin find themselves in the bottom two, with Patsy and Robin being eliminated from the competition.
In the Movie-themed Quarter Final, there is a pro-dance recreating the films Grease, Top Gun, Easter Parade and Pulp Fiction. The remaining 6 couples perform for a place in the Semi Final, with Pamela and James getting the season's first perfect judges score of 40 for their 'Ghost' themed Viennese Waltz, and Ann and Anton bottom again with a score of 14 for their American Smooth.
In the week 10 results show, there is a group show dance to ABBA tunes, Erin and Anton perform a classic Hollywood Waltz to the strains of Moon River, plus music from special guests The Manic Street Preachers. Scott and Natalie, and Ann and Anton find themselves in the bottom two, with Ann and Anton bottom and leaving the competition.
In the first show of the semi-finals, each couple perform two dances, an individual dance and a Swingathon. Kara and Artem get the highest judges score for the individual dance for their Viennese Waltz (39), with Gavin and Katya bottom with a score of 27 for their Samba. The Swingathon sees Gavin and Katya eliminated first to score just 1 point, with Kara and Artem winning and receiving 5 points. Show One ends with Kara and Artem leading with 44 judges points, and Gavin and Katya bottom with 28.
In the second show of the semi-finals, the couples perform their third dance. There is also music from special guests Take That. Pamela and James receive their 2nd perfect judges score of 40 for their Quickstep, with Gavin and Katya bottom with 31 for their Viennese Waltz. Over the two nights that puts Kara and Artem top with 83 judges points out of 85, and Gavin and Katya bottom with 59.
In the Semi-Final results show there is a group dance from the Strictly Show Dancers, plus music from special guests Take That. There is also a song and dance from Bruce. There is a double-elimination, with Gavin and Katya, and Scott and Natalie leaving the competition just short of the Grand-Final.
In the first part of the Grand Final, the 3 remaining couples perform their highest scored dance of the season, namely a Samba (Matt and Aliona), a Rumba (Kara and Artem) and a Viennese Waltz (Pamela and James), together with a Showdance. The judges scores are for guidance only, from now on only the viewers votes will decide the winner.
At the start of the season finale, Pamela and James get voted off, having received the lowest public vote. The remaining 2 couples then perform both their favorite dance of the season, together will an all new dance that they've not done before. There is music from special guest Paloma Faith, to which the knocked out season's contestants take to the dance floor. Ultimately, Kara and Artem are emotionally crowned Champions 2010.
In the Christmas Special, 5 new one-off contestants compete for the Christmas Trophy: June Brown (with Vincent), John Barrowman (with Kristina), Vince Cable (with Erin), Fern Britton (with Matt), and Ronni Ancona (partnered with Anton Du Beke). John and Kristina find themselves at the top of the judges leader-board with 37 for their Quickstep, while June and Vincent, and Ronni and Anton find themselves joint bottom with 28 for their Tango and Viennese Waltz respectfully. There is music from special guests Only Men Aloud. John and Kristina are crowned Christmas Champions when the judges scores are combined with an audience vote. There is also a Christmas group dance from the final five pairing from the full 2010 season.
In the opening Launch Show of season 9, the 14 new celebrities are introduced to their professional partners for the first time. There is music from Dolly Parton plus three pro dances and a full group dance.
In the first live show of the new season, 7 of the 14 new celebrities (Holly, Dan, Lulu, Audley, Robbie, Anita and Russell) dance either a Waltz of Cha-Cha-Cha with their professional partners. No-one will leave the show this first week, and judges scores will be carried forward to week 2.
In the second live show the remaining 7 celebrities (Harry, Rory, Alex, Chelsee, Edwina, Nancy and Jason) dance either a Waltz or Cha-Cha-Cha. At the end of week 1, Jason and Kristina are top of the judges leader board with 32 points, while Nancy and Anton are bottom with just 12 judges points.
For the first time this season all 14 couples perform against each other, dancing either a Foxtrot or a Salsa. With last weeks judges points being carried on to this week, Jason and Kristina find themselves at the top of the leader-board with a score of 65 (32 and 33), with Nancy and Anton at the bottom with just 26 judges points (12 and 14).
In the first results show of the new season there is a pro group dance and music from special guest Will Young. After the public vote is taken into account, Audley and Natalie, and Edwina and Vincent find themselves in the bottom two with Edwina and Vincent being the first to leave the competition.
The remaining contestants perform a total of 7 different dance styles, all based on Broadway shows. After the judges scores, Jason and Kristina find themselves top of the leader-board for the 3rd week in a row with a score of 36, with Nancy and Anton bottom with 20 judges points. There is also a pro group dance.
In the Broadway week results show there is a special pro dance, guests Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald perform a dance to the music of Footloose, and there is music from singer Susan Boyle. When all votes are taken into account, Dan and Katja, and Nancy and Anton find themselves in the bottom two, with Dan and Katja leaving the competition.
The remaining 12 couples dance to stay in the competition. Nancy and Anton find themselves bottom of the judges leader board yet again with a score of 18, with Chelsee and Pasha top for the first time with a score of 36. Harry and Aliona receive the first '10' of the season for their Waltz (from Alesha).
There is a pro-dance, music from special guest Caro Emerald, plus Vincent and Flavia perform an Argentine Tango. When the public vote is added to the judges scores, Rory and Erin, and Nancy and Anton are in the bottom two, with Rory and Erin leaving the competition.
The remaining 11 couples perform a spooky Halloween-horror-vampire themed dance. Jason and Kristina return to the top of the judges leader-board when their 'Bewitched' Quickstep gets a score of 37, the highest of the season so far. Nancy and Anton are again bottom with a score of just 14 for their coffin based Rumba. Both Harry and Aliona's 'Psycho-killer' Tango and Jason and Kristina receive a maximum '10' from Alesha.
There are two special, spooky pro dances, plus music from special guests The Wanted. Audley and Natalie, and Nancy and Anton find themselves in the bottom two, with Nancy and Anton leaving the show after 3 weeks in the bottom two.
With head judge Len taking a week off, the remaining 10 contestants dance for the remaining judges plus special guest judge Jennifer Grey, dances that include for the first time this season, the Charleston. Chelsee and Pasha come top of the leader-board with a judges score of 36 for their Charleston, with Russell and Flavia bottom with just 24 judges points for their Paso Doble.
There are two pro group dances - one by the girls, and one the boys, plus a song and dance from Bruce Forsyth, and music from guests Westlife who sing Flying Without Wings. Audley and Natalie and Lulu and Brendan find themselves in the bottom two, with Lulu and Brendan being voted out of the competition.
The remaining 9 couples dance to stay in the competition and reach next week's Wembley special. Due to Artem injuring his back just before last week's main show, Holly dances with Brendon this week. Audley and Natalie find themselves bottom of the judges leader-board with a score of just 20 for their Cha-Cha-Cha, with Harry and Aliona at the top with a score of 37 points for their Argentine Tango (including for the first time this season, two perfect '10s').
