The four couples meet for the first time and are given the task of finding one of four Mazda BT50s before making their way around Auckland to locate four red blocks each that are worth $5,000 and reach the Block first to determine the order the houses are chosen. After finding the first red block, teams were given a choice to build a toolbox to the same standards as one previously built by Mark to earn a bonus red block, or to continue on the hunt and increase their chances of reaching the houses first. All four teams opted to complete this additional task and receive $25,000 in total. Ginny and Rhys arrive first at the Block and select house four, Libby and Ben arrive second and select house three, Sarah and Richard arrive third and select house two and Rachel and Ty arrive last and are given house one.

Alice and Caleb win the live auction with the total winnings of $260,000.

Many believed that they "stole" the win from Stace and Yanita by having their house put back onto the market after Stace and and Yanita had secured the win. Andy and Nate earned $31,000 over their reserve in their second auction, while Stace and Yanita had $20,000 and would have won the extra $100,000 in prize money had the fifth auction not taken place.

The seventh season of New Zealand reality television series The Block NZ, titled The Block NZ: On Point, premiered on 8 July 2018. Hosted by Mark Richardson and Shelley Ferguson, the season was set in the Auckland suburb of Hobsonville Point. The prize money for achieving the most amount of profit from the auction was $100,000 for this series and was judged by Kristina Rapley, editor of Your Home and Garden Magazine, and Jason Bonham, who has been the judge on two previous seasons. The season once again included the Kiwibank Block Out Live online game, a bingo-style game designed to be played by viewers watching the show live. It consisted of a grid of nine squares, each containing an event or quote from the show. When the event was broadcast, viewers had a few minutes to tap the corresponding square.
