The story of a pair of non-identical twin brothers, Lucien and Wayne, who live with their hygiene-crazed mother and their western/country-crazed father in a small town called Soap City. Lucien is a delicate, nature-loving boy, while Wayne is a rough antisocial bully, whose only interest in life is junk. Naturally, some conflicts will ensue.

Tired of Wayne's juvenile behaviour, Lucien creeps into his room in the middle of the night, glues bushy tufts of hair under his arms and paints stubble on him. The next morning he convinces Wayne that he has become a man - he must just be an early developer. - A new craze is sweeping through school, a pogo-stick type toy called a "Bouncy Bob".
When Wayne wins a cross country race that takes Lucien all day to complete, Lucien becomes curious about Wayne's new high in additives cereal. - Mari's mother wants to take a new family photo, because Mari looks grumpy in the old one.
Tony puts the idea into Lucien's head that perhaps he's adopted. - When Mr. Cramp learns that his favourite Country and Western singer is coming to town he is delighted. He tries to whip up enthusiasm among the family, but nobody else seems in the least interested.
Wayne has a new hobby - fishing in the toilet. Prissy Lucien, desperate to avail himself of the facilities and uncomfortable with "going" anywhere but home, tries various ruses to get Wayne out. - When Lucien spends the night at Tony's house he gets a goodnight kiss from Mrs. Parsons that leaves him awestruck.
Wayne decides switch brands of breakfast cereal to get the free bird call Lucien has been waiting for: The Crested Marsh Swallow.
Mrs. Cramp's mother comes for a visit, bringing a baby grand piano with which she hopes to find out whether there's an ounce of talent or culture in her grandchildren. - It's a "soap day" in Soap City. Flakes from The Haz Chem soap factory are falling all over town, making it look like a picture postcard winter wonderland.
Wayne gets a magic set in the hope of making people of his choice disappear. He is very disappointed when it doesn't work.
"Fashion Passion" When Wayne shows up for his class photo dressed in outlandishly mismatched clothes and wearing underpants on his elbow, the charismatic new school photographer declares him a fashion original. "Small Wonder" TONY complains to LUCIEN about being taken to buy new shoes when his old shoes mean so much to him.
When Lucien finds an injured chameleon in the swamp he brings it home to look after. Wayne is terrified of the creature, but tries to hold it to prove he isn't. - Lucien adopts a little swamp plant known as lobster grass growing from a crack in the pavement. When Wayne tries to kill it, Tony informs him that all soap people hate swamp plants.
"Swamp Fever" When Miss Hissy tells her class that the Soap City Council is going to get rid of the swamp, Lucien and Mari try to find a way to save it. "Kung Foolish" After being bested in a fight by Wayne for the zillionth time, Lucien decides to enroll in a martial arts course, convinced that he can learn to use his brother's superior size and strength against him.
When twin psychologist, Miss Monkfish, comes to Soap City to prove her theory that all twins are alike, Mr. Winkle volunteers the Cramps. - When Wendy Winkle invites everyone in Soap City to her bithday party, Mr. and Mrs. Cramp set out to make a big impression.
When Lucien laughs at Tony for believing in the newt man, Tony calls Lucien a "soap sucker" and soon they are having an argument from which neither one wants to back down. - When Wayne sees Miss Hissy after school with a man she assumes he has a boyfriend and gleefully spreads the story around the school.
Wendy arranges for Wayne to come in and look after the animals when the Winkles are on holiday, little realising that all he wants to do is watch the BIG TV. - When Wendy becomes frustrated with trying to play any of her many musical instruments she dumps them on the school as the Wendy Winkle Endowment for the Arts.
"Date Dupe" Patsy McCloud, the new girl in school, seems to have taken a shine to Lucien. "Agent X" When an enthusiastic kiss from Wendy Winkle leaves an indelible mark on Wayne's neck, Mrs. Cramp is confronted with a cleaning challenge that even she can't conquer.
When a washer falls off of a piece of junk Wayne's sneaking into the house, Mrs. Cramp goes on a rampage, demanding a room inspection for everyone and expecting everything to be neat and tidy. - Mrs. Cramp wins a free family beauty day at the Mt. Fuji Mora Spa, which turns out to be a not very convincingly converted monkey reservation.
"Mr. Wrinkles Monkey" On their annual class trip to the Haz Chem Soap Factory, Lucien and Mari Phelps discover a mangy monkey on the premises. "Wicked Wendy" A silent clown shows up at the Cramps' front door, advertising the opening of a new a trampoline amusement park.
"Haircut Horrors" Mrs. Cramp decides the boys need haircuts, but Wayne doesn't want a haircut, preferring to look like a favorite wrestler. "Nostalgia Nasty" Wayne's discovery of an old-fashioned cast-iron laundry mangle sends Mr. and Mrs. Cramp into a full-blown nostalgia mania.
Mari Phelps refuses to take part in her family's creepy street-corner evangelism for family togetherness. But when the Phelpses turn to Lucien to join their campaign, he finds himself strangely unable to say no. - A new neighbor arrives in Soap City and becomes jealous of Mrs. Cramp's whiter-than-white laundry, which is so dazzlingly bright it causes passing cars to swerve out of control.
"Home On The Range" It's the day of the annual The Haz Chem Country and Western Club barbecue, the biggest event on the Soap City social calendar. "Holesome" Mrs. Cramp is having one of her periodic attacks of "The Cleanies." She's invented a powerful new cleanser and she's determined to give it a clinical trial.
Wayne tries to get a day off school by catching a cold. Then, Lucien investigates a number of accidents in Soap City.
The Cramp family gain an unexpected houseguest: the twin's five year old cousin baby, who looks and acts like a baby, despite her advanced years. - Lucien comes upon an flyer for Parsons Plumbing, advertising Tony Parsons' skills as a pipe-crawler.
The Cramp Twins have been given a school project to learn about work by finding a job they can help with. Mr. Cramp wants his sons to come soap selling with him, but they already have other plans.
When Mrs. Cramp decides to extend her kitchen to accommodate a new autoclave for sterilising the dishes, Wayne suggests they save money by doing it themselves. - After seeing an alien invasion movie, Wayne is excited by the prospect of an alien invasion. He starts to try to find evidence to convince Lucien that aliens are coming, but Lucien is not so easily impressed.
Lucien is distraught when his oldest worm dies suddenly. Strangely moved by his brother's grief and fascinated with the dead worm, Wayne agrees to take care of "the arrangements". -When Lucien tells his mother that Wayne is wearing dirty clothes again he sets Wayne up for an unexpectedly major humiliation.
When Lucien and Tony decide to find out whether additives in dog biscuits make dogs hyperactive, they don't want to test them on dogs which would be animal testing. - Following yet another failure to stay on the bucking bull at the Haz Chem Country and Western Club, Mr. Cramp decides to put in some practice.
"Silence Please" LUCIEN sets about creating healthful "Quiet Zones" throughout the Cramp house, inspiring WAYNE to retaliate with some aggressive domestic re-zoning of his own. "Fur Fungus" After taking a toy from one of Tony Parsons' sisters, Wendy Winkle discovers that all of her precious Fuzz Babies have become infected with a horrifying fur fungus.
When the hero of an action movie, 'Ride Tough', has to leave his motorbike behind, Wayne gets a tear in his eye.
Tony and Lucien see a book from Grizzly Mike in the sewers and try to use it to act "brave" and Mari turns into a bad girl and Wendy Winkle joins her gang.
Wayne is customizing his trike. He finds a flame pattern on a barbecue charcoal bag and empties the charcoal into the laundry basket so he can fix the flame pattern on to his trike.
Mr. Winkle is opening a new sluice gate that he has named after his daughter, Wendy. Tony and Lucien are protesting about possible negative effects on the swampland.
When Mr. Cramp takes the twins and Tony to the fair Tony fails to reach the minimum height line to ride the new roller coaster. Despondent, Tony wanders off while Lucien has a disastrous ride and Wayne a brilliant one.
During the school holidays the school is going to be disinfected and the school pets may die if nobody takes them home.
After watching a late night vampire movie, Lucien is skeptical, Tony is terrified and needs to be walked home to next door and Wayne is determined to become a vampire.
When a new kid comes to school for a couple of weeks, Lucien volunteers to look after him, but when he sees the size of him he wishes he hadn't.
Tony and Lucien decide to build a tree house on the vacant lot next to the Cramp house in order to get away from Wayne. Lucien boasts proudly about his tree house in school and Wendy gets jealous.
When Wayne destroys Lucien's fragile 'earth diorama with real animal tears' and then ransacks his room to steal his candy, Lucien decides to turn to the internet for advice.
When Mr. Winkle has an Haz-Chem shed cleared to give Wendy an executive parking garage he rediscovers a stock of obsolete cures for childhood ailments.
Wayne has begun collecting mail-order exotic cereals from around the world, but his first one is Locust Bean Surprise and he hates it.
Wendy is bored with designing clothes for her dolls. She wants to dress real people. So her parents let her design new costumes for the servants.
Miss Hissy announces the school disco and says there will be a prize to encourage the boys to dance since none danced last year. Lucien protests.
When Miss Hissy announces that her class can use the school video camera, Lucien's suggestion of making a wildlife documentary wins him first turn with the camera.
When Lucien's protests outside Fishburger Sam's restaurant, (to protect whales from insensitive fishing practices), fail to attract any news coverage, Wayne tells him it's because he's capital B for Boring.
Wayne discovers Hideous Dave is a tattooist and wants to get a tattoo. Dave says he's a professional and won't tattoo a kid without his parents' permission.
When one of the Parsons' geese goes missing, the entire Parsons family go out looking for it.
Wayne discovers the new computer game 'Toxic Mutoid Zombie Squasher' is out and begs his mother to buy it, but she tells him he'll have to save up his own money.
