We follow the exploits and cases of defense attorneys of a Boston law firm. Bobby Donnell is the senior defense attorney and founder of the firm.

S1.E1 ∙ Pilot
Bobby defends Rachel Reynolds, a young woman facing drug charges. She is not a drug dealer, but was trying to cover for her brother. Lindsay represents Emerson Ray, who is suing a tobacco company in a wrongful death suit. Lindsay's favorite law professor, Anderson Pearson, represents the defense. Eugene represents "Free Willy", a man who exposes himself in public.
S1.E2 ∙ Part I
Bobby represents a man facing armed robbery charges. His strategy is to plead out to lesser charges. Eugene's client fears for her and her 11 year old son's safety, at the hands of her ex-husband. Eugene makes several attempts to get a restraining order. The situation has deadly consequences. Bobby tries to secure a loan and pays a visit to Jimmy Berluti, his friend and banker.
S1.E3 ∙ Trial and Error
Bobby plans to represent Gerald Braun in a wrongful death suit against Ronald Martin. Eugene's "Free Willy" returns, after being arrested in a peculiar position with a prostitute. Defense lawyers in the Emerson Ray case make a motion to have the case dismissed. Bobby fears that the judge is biased. Jimmy, Bobby's friend the banker, is fired for approving a construction loan under false pretenses and Bobby decides to hire him.
S1.E4 ∙ Part IV
An extremely nervous Lindsey goes up against the tobacco industry and her old Law School Professor in her very first jury trial. Outraged by the release of his daughter's killer, Dr. Braun takes matters into his own hands.
S1.E5 ∙ Part V
Preparing for Dr. Braun's murder trial, Jimmy comes up with a controversial defense after the client refuses to argue temporary insanity. Meanwhile, Eugene bets both Lindsey and an ADA that he can win a hopeless case, and Ellenor finally comes face to face with the Podiatrist she met through the personal ads.
S1.E6 ∙ Part VI
Dr. Braun's emotional and outrageous murder trial finally begins, with Bobby going up against a known ADA who is also a famous Rabbi. Eugene represents a boy accused of statutory rape, after he impregnates a 13 year old girl.
S2.E1 ∙ Reasonable Doubts
The firm calls Bobby's judgment into question when he forms a romantic relationship with a new client who happens to be on trial for murder.
S2.E2 ∙ Betrayal
The firm represents an outrageously clever client, who is accused of stabbing his lover to death, but pulls a brilliant legal maneuver in an attempt to get away with it. A series of unfortunate misunderstandings causes Jimmy to be arrested for solicitation.
S2.E3 ∙ The Blessing
Tensions rise to extremely high levels in the courtroom and out of it, when Bobby and Helen clash over an assisted suicide case, each carrying a traumatic personal memory regarding the controversial issue.
S2.E4 ∙ Dog Bite
Berluti represents a young girl who was bitten in the face by a dog. A juror communicates with Lindsay during a trial. Eugene defends a one-legged African American man accused of robbery.
S2.E5 ∙ First Degree
An adulterer is charged with the murder of her affluent husband as well as her lover are defended by Bobby and another office attorney. A cop just a few years shy of retirement quits his job and is seeking disability compensation claiming that being a cop caused him to become a racist. Lindsay is surprised to be told by Jimmy that she is is the subject of an erotic dream,
S2.E6 ∙ Sex, Lies and Monkeys
An unfaithful wife who was convicted and possibly because of Bobby's damning remarks in court he discovered to be innocent. Bobby vigilantly tries to get the judge to win her release at sentencing. Kelton, an on again-off-again lover of Lindsay drugs her wine with a date rape drug to enliven her sexual performance without her permission.
S2.E7 ∙ Search and Seizure
A husband seeks a court order that would force his pregnant wife to undergo a C-section. Lindsay represents a drug dealer caught red-handed with a large quantity of cocaine. Gamble asks Bobby out on a date.
S2.E8 ∙ The Means
The firm is defending a friend of Eugene's who killed someone during a riot. They're trying to prove him innocent. But when things look bleak they decide to try another approach which both the client and Eugene think is an insult.
S2.E9 ∙ Save the Mule
A drug dealer's operative is taken into custody after she attempted to smuggle cocaine into the U.S. by swallowing drug-filled prophylactics.
S2.E10 ∙ Spirit of America
A documentary crew records the attorneys as they fight to win a stay of execution for a man convicted of murdering a young girl.
S2.E11 ∙ Hide and Seek
James Whitmore as Raymond Oz, an elderly attorney (on a par with Denny Crane's antics) who asks Bobby to second chair as he is having memory issues. Oz is brash, witty and quite the showman in court. Eugene is defending a despicable client who murdered two young children. His revelation to his attorney, Eugene, in court and Eugene's reaction is a surprising moment. Balducci's actress client is a heartthrob of his youth their exchanges provide some sweet moments.
S2.E12 ∙ Race with the Devil
Bobby's priest becomes a client after a woman suffers a fatal heart attack during an exorcism.
S2.E13 ∙ The Civil Right
Berluti decides to advertise himself on TV "The Grunt" Attorney. Once the ad hits the airwaves, the hall is full of potential clients and the most surprising one is his Mom who decides to tell her son that she wants to marry again and her lover is a woman. A man wants to sue his female dentist who he says sexually molested him pushing against the "rape shield laws". Also, a rape victim's testimony is attacked by Eugene who represents the supposed perpetrator.
S2.E14 ∙ The Pursuit of Dignity
Bobby's senior prom date is arrested for prostitution. Ellenor represents a little girl who was thrown out of school because of a disability.
S2.E15 ∙ Line of Duty
Bobby spends the night at Helen's. While they are in bed, someone calls Helen and leaves a message on her machine. It's the police telling her they're going to bust someone, which Bobby overhears. And the person who's going to be busted is one of his clients. He tells Eugene who tells him that he's duty bound to tell the client. He tells the client and because of that they were ready for the police and some of them were killed. Helen says that Bobby was the one who told about the bust. So Bobby is arrested. Initially he was charged with something minor but later they decided to charge him with murder. So with Eugene as his counsel, they decide to let the judge decide if he's guilty.
S2.E16 ∙ Truth and Consequences
A gang member threatens Rebecca's life after she witnesses a robbery-homicide.
S2.E17 ∙ Burden of Proof
With no medical evidence, an unfavorable judge, a drunk for a scientific witness, and virtually no prospect of winning - Jimmy leads a group of cancer patients no other lawyer would even go near to, into a hopeless trial against a power lines company.
S2.E18 ∙ Ties That Bind
Ellenor and Lindsay represent a porn star accused of choking her co-star husband to death during a bondage scene. Rebecca's capacity as an eye-witness is called into question, when her identification at the line-up might get suppressed. Hellen is stunned when she figures out the true nature of Bobby and Lindsay's relationship.
S2.E19 ∙ The Trial
Hellen and Bobby's relationship is sent into a turmoil, when they are put at opposite sides of the same juicy, high-profile murder case, and neither is willing to back out. Eugene represents Rebecca's old and cranky uncle for tax evasion.
S2.E20 ∙ Cloudy with a Chance of Membranes
With their romantic relationship now over, Bobby and Helen face each other in court on the murder trial of Dr. Jeffrey Winslow. Determined to come out on top, each of them prepares tricks and surprises for the other - but the real surprise comes after the trial is over.
S2.E21 ∙ In Deep
Ellenor sticks Lindsay with a humiliating case of a man determined to get his day in court when fined for using too much water when flushing his toilet. Things get even worse when the case goes before a very respected judge, who dies unexpectedly, just after causing a horrible mix-up. Ellenor herself defends a long-time client, accused of purse-snatching, only to be charged under an obscure federal law, and is faced with 20 years in jail. Meanwhile, Rebecca testifies as an eye witness in a murder trial, and faces a vigorous cross by the defense attorney.
S2.E22 ∙ Another Day
Joey Herric returns, having killed yet another lover by stabbing him in the chest. Hellen takes on the case, determined to finally get Joey, and Bobby tries to suppress his previous crime from evidence. Ellenor defends purse snatcher Warren Cruikshank, charged with affecting tourism and faced with 20 years in jail. Lindsay once again takes on her former Professor, Anderson Pearson, but this time instead of making a settlement offer, he makes her a job offer.
S2.E23 ∙ Checkmate
A.D.A. Helen Gamble and Joey Heric go head to head in the courtroom, each trying to outmaneuver the other in Heric's murder trial. Meanwhile, Ellenor represents an obese woman, suing a carnival for ridiculing her in public.
S2.E24 ∙ Trees in the Forest
Hellen gets stuck with a vehicular manslaughter case, of a rich man who hit a homeless man in the street, and sped away. Rebecca is about to get an award for her actions regarding animal rights, but finds out the award might get taken away, after she kills a rat in the office. Eugene defends a gang member who accidentally killed his friend during a gang initiation. Finally, Lindsay drops a bomb during a staff meeting, demanding equity in the firm.
S2.E25 ∙ Food Chains
Tensions at the firm are still high, thanks to Lindsey's demand to get equity, and to the revelation about her relationship with Bobby. Meanwhile, Rebecca gets into a car accident, which turns out to be staged by an insurance fraud ring, and Ellinor represents a scientist trying to save her ape from being killed by a science lab.
S2.E26 ∙ Axe Murderer
Bobby and Eugene join forces with the firm of Cage and Fish, defending an Axe murderer who believes she was Lizzy Borden in a prior life. Ellinor is crushed when she finds out the truth about her boyfriend's role in Rebecca's insurance fraud sting, while Lindsey offers Helen a job with the firm.
S2.E27 ∙ Duty Bound
Jimmy's priest is arrested for murder when the body of a 16 year old boy is found in his closet. Jimmy is convinced of Father Ryan's innocence, and his search for the real killer gets him into a deadly situation. Ellenor has a hard time dealing with the truth about Fred Spivak, and makes a decision that might put Rebecca in jeopardy.
S2.E28 ∙ Rhyme and Reason
When a 13 year old boy shoots his mother for no apparent reason, Bobby and Helen struggle over charging him as a child or an adult. Meanwhile, Eugene tries to get a murderer off on a technicality, while realizing how he looks through his young son's eyes.
S3.E1 ∙ Passing Go
Lindsay gets suspicious when Rebecca seems to be secretly awaiting an important letter - and realizes just how much she was right when the letter finally arrives. Ellenor gets a hysterical call from a client, who ran over a man in the street while drunk, and is shocked to discover exactly who he hit. Assistant D.A. Helen Gamble prosecutes two boys accused of rape and murder, each accusing the other, and ends up making a deal with the wrong one.
S3.E2 ∙ Reasons to Believe
Lindsay is called to defend her old professor and mentor, Anderson Pearson, when he is charged with murder. Helen must prosecute a man for murder, with the only witness being a 4 year old child. Having passed the bar exam, Rebecca tries her first case, and the firm hires a new secretary.
S3.E3 ∙ Body Count
George Vogleman, the podiatrist who Ellenor once dated, comes to her for help with a gruesome surprise in his bag. Jimmy and Rebecca defend a man who has been planning to kill his wife for years, while Lindsay and Bobby prepare for the Pearson trial. Finally, Hellen and Lindsay move in together.
S3.E4 ∙ The Defenders
Anderson Pearson's murder trial finally begins, with Lindsay and Bobby at the helm. As the evidence mount against George Vogleman in the murder of Susan Robin, Eugene tries to find other possible suspects.
S3.E5 ∙ The Battlefield
Lindsay takes on Anderson Pearson's appeal, claiming Judge Hiller was wrong in not letting them argue self defense. Ellenor and Eugene prepare for the Vogleman trial, turning over every rock to find a defense. Jimmy defends his cousin, sued for wrongful termination, after firing a woman for being Iranian.
S3.E6 ∙ One of Those Days
Ellenor and Eugene head the defense of George Vogleman in the Susan Robin murder trial, with almost no prospect of winning. Scrapping to put on a defense, Eugene employs the infamous "Plan B" on the victim's brother, and Ellenor betrays Helen's confidence when she calls her to stand to testify about a private conversation they had.
S3.E7 ∙ Trench Work
A guilt-ridden Lindsay is determined to get Anderson Pearson's conviction reduced to manslaughter, and gets into a world of trouble with Judge Hiller. Eugene and Ellenor's actions during the Vogelman trial come back to haunt them, when the brother of the victim sues them for falsely accusing him of murder. Two old cases, both ending with grave miscarriages of justice, are reawakened - when Helen makes an illegal deal with a wrongly convicted man, in order to get a murderer who managed to escape punishment.
S3.E8 ∙ Swearing In
About to be sworn-in as a lawyer, Rebecca represents a man for burglary, and begins to suspect he might be guilty of a much bigger crime. As the firm prepares to defend itself against Tommy Silva in the Robin case, Bobby surprises everyone when he chooses Jimmy to first chair. Meanwhile, Bobby also takes on the case of a very religious and highly respected woman, accused of shaking a baby to death.
S3.E9 ∙ State of Mind
Bobby tries Evelyn Mayfield's murder trial, and when it becomes clear the jury is about to convict her, even Bobby begins to doubt her innocence. Roberta Baylor comes to seek Rebecca's help again, when her son is suspended from school, after passing a sexually explicit note about a girl in his class. Meamwhile, Lucy tries to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.
S3.E10 ∙ Love & Honor
Jimmy leads the firm's defense against Tommy Silva's lawsuit for their actions during the Vogleman trial. Silva uses Ellenor's past actions to hang her, and Jimmy makes a questionable move during Eugene's testimony. Trying to get everyone's spirits up, Lucy insists they have a Christmas party.
S3.E11 ∙ Split Decisions
Eugene is stunned when he is called to defend an old friend of his, arrested for prostitution charges, while dressed in women's clothes. Things get even more complicated when it is discovered that the man who hired him was a prominent politician, in the race for the position of DA - and Helen is forced by her boss to humiliate him in public for political gain. Meanwhile, Ellenor tries to bring in a big client to the firm, and is enraged when she is voted down by Bobby and Lindsay.
S3.E12 ∙ A Day in the Life
Hellen plans a relaxing day at the spa for her and Lindsay, but Lindsay foils her plans when she turns what was supposed to be a short hearing into a full day in court. Bobby and Eugene are called to the house of Bobby's old friend, where his teenage daughter gave birth to a baby, and suffocated it to death.
S3.E13 ∙ Judge and Jury
While presiding over a case Bobby is handling, Judge Kittleson call him into her chambers and informs him she had an extremely erotic dream about him. After he makes it clear his not interested in her, Bobby begins to feel her rulings are biased against him. Meanwhile, Hellen prosecutes a TV news producer as an accessory to murder, when he gives a live broadcast to a doctor assisting a suicide.
S3.E14 ∙ Of Human Bondage
A colleague of Bobby's asks him to take on a case of a prostitute accused of murder, until he discovers he is much more involved than he led on. Ellenor defends one of her first clients for possession charges, and Jimmy teaches Rebecca a valuable lesson in dealing with unreasonable clients.
S3.E15 ∙ Lawyers, Reporters and Cockroaches
Helen's plans for a relaxing day at the spa are ruined when a human face is put on a cat-killing case she is prosecuting, and she decides to push for jail time. Bobby and Lindsay represent a restaurant owner, suing a TV reported who promised him a positive cover, but then aired a feature about cockroaches in his kitchen. Meanwhile, tensions at the firm are at an all-time high, when Ellenor finds out Lindsay makes twice as much as she does.
S3.E16 ∙ End Games
A series of chaotic events reopens the Susan Robin murder case, which results in Ellenor's arrest for concealing evidence during George's trial. The entire firm stands ready to go to war for Ellenor, but no one is ready for the shocking truth behind this turn of events.
S3.E17 ∙ Target Practice
Jimmy and Lindsay represent a couple suing a gun manufacturer, when one of their guns is used to kill their daughter. Eugene is stunned when his son is arrested for drug dealing, and is mortified to learn where he got the idea to do so. Bobby, Ellenor and Rebecca manage to make a deal with the DA, but Eugene's ex-wife announces she is suing for full custody of Kendall, claiming Eugene is a bad influence on him.
S3.E18 ∙ Crossfire
Eugene and his ex-wife battle for custody of their son, when Sharon claims Eugene's job is having a bad influence on Kendall. Hellen prosecutes a man for stealing a car, but slowly becomes suspicious that the alleged victim is lying. Rebecca represents a psychologist who was fired from his job after he became cross-eyed, due to a head injury.
S3.E19 ∙ Closet Justice
The firm is assigned a horrific case of a man accused of murder, when the dismembered body of a nun was found in his closet. However, when fourth amendment issues arise regarding the validity of the search, the prospect of freeing such a violent criminal on a technicality sends everyone into an emotional turmoil.
S3.E20 ∙ Home Invasions
Helen prosecutes a man for killing his wife, with his son as the only eye witness to the crime. However, her case begins to go south when the son changes his story and claims it was a accident, and Helen turns to Ellenor for assistance. Meanwhile, Lucy discovers hidden cameras planted throughout her apartment, and Judge Kittleson learns her personal life are also splattered all over the internet.
S3.E21 ∙ Infected
Still devastated from losing the Armbrust murder trial, an enraged Helen seeks vengeance over Gary Armbrust who lied on the stand, by charging him with murder. But a passionate and erratic closing exposes the true nature of her rage. Bobby and Eugene represent a man whose wife died shortly after a cosmetic surgery, and Rebecca clashes with Judge Swackheim, when his capricious decisions during a trial make it impossible for her to defend her client.
S3.E22 ∙ Do Unto Others
Eugene represents a popular Rabbi, accused of raping a young woman. While the Rabbi claims the sex was consensual, and part of a game they used to play, Eugene is horrified to discover she wasn't the only woman ever to accuse him of rape.
S3.E23 ∙ Happily Ever After
Working late at the office, Lindsey is attacked and stabbed, identifying her attacker as a nun before passing out. An angry Helen goes into a nun-arresting spree, while a mysterious tape reopens the question of who killed Susan Robin, until the real killer is finally revealed.
S4.E1 ∙ Free Dental
With Lindsay and Bobby's help, Jimmy defends his personal friend, dentist Henry Olson, when he is tried for murdering a woman who was found dead in his chair. Hostile ADA Richard Bay tries to prove the two were having an affair, when in fact their relationship was a lot more complicated than he could possibly imagine. Meanwhile, decapitator George Vogelman returns, asking for Ellenor's help when his co-op serves him with a eviction notice.
S4.E2 ∙ Boston Confidential
When a woman's body is found in her husband's trunk, Hellen immediately arrests him and he confesses. When the search of his car is ruled invalid and he walks free, Bobby makes a shocking discovery about the man's relationship with the arresting officer - but the real shock is in what he does with that information. Meanwhile, Jimmy tries to deal with his discoveries over the Olson trial, but his actions have catastrophic results.
S4.E3 ∙ Loser's Keepers
Lindsay is in complete terror when the man who stabbed her begins leaving presents at the office, as she starts to unravel. Rebecca once again clashes with Judge Swackheim over a complicated case of a man who confesses to running over a woman, while Rebecca believes he is being paid to do so by the real driver. After moving in with Hellen, a horrified Ellenor's life is in danger when George finally shows his true colors.
S4.E4 ∙ Legacy
A betrayed Ellenor tries to deal with the truth about George Vogleman, as well as her guilt over the role she played in freeing him. Eugene is forced to help the world's worst attorney, Harland Bassett, in a trial that involves more than just a hung jury. Bobby's old friend and mentor, legendary attorney Raymond Oz, returns asking for his help, when his wife tries to declare him incompetent - a trial that ends with tragic results.
S4.E5 ∙ Oz
On trial for murdering his wife, an increasingly erratic Raymond Oz insists on representing himself, and Hellen is forced to go to extreme measures in order to try and convict this legendary attorney.
S4.E6 ∙ Marooned
Rebecca and Eugene defend a woman charged with killing her mother, trying to convince the jury she did so during a flashback of a horrifying childhood memory. Meanwhile, Lindsay finds the perfect wedding dress, and is mortified to learn that Bobby insists that she wears his dead mother's hideous dress.
S4.E7 ∙ Victimless Crimes
Jimmy defends a woman who shot her rapist to death, a job she makes very hard on him by not cooperating with his attempts to save her, refusing to show regret and helplessness on the stand. Meanwhile, Lucy is horrified to discover her dentist, who also happens to be Bobby's cousin, bit her breast while she was unconscious on his chair. She feels even further betrayed when Bobby agrees to represent him, and tries to convince her to settle for money.
S4.E8 ∙ Committed
Lindsay is assigned to represent a psychotic serial killer, now on medication, in a parole hearing, and is forced to deal with her pain and fear over her attack by psychotic client George Vogelman. Eugene is horrified when the body of a man is found in his ex-wife's apartment, and his son is the prime suspect.
S4.E9 ∙ Bay of Pigs
Richard and Ellenor go head to head in a trial of a woman who tried to kill her husband, but their anger and antagonism towards each other gets them into a lot of trouble. Jimmy agrees to represent an old girlfriend who sold her eggs on the Internet and is suing a man who now refuses to pay. His old feelings for her are awaken, which forces him to reexamine his his relationship with Judge Kittleson.
S4.E10 ∙ Day in Court
In a chaotic and bizarre trial, Bobby represents an old drug dealing client, who is charged with murder after stabbing a man to death seven times. With wacky Judge Swackheim presiding, the trial quickly spins out of control, landing Helen in the hospital, and later, along with Bobby, in a jail cell.
S4.E11 ∙ Blowing Smoke
In a personally and racially charged trial, Rebecca defends an old boyfriend, a police officer, who is accused of murder after shooting a man to death in a store, convinced he was about to rob the place. Lindsay sues a cigar company for breaking up a marriage, and reveals her fears about her own relationship with Bobby.
S4.E12 ∙ New Evidence
Lindsay arrives at Los Angeles, where a man she once met at an art class begs for her help when he is charged with murdering a woman he was having a virtual affair with over the Internet. Believing he is innocent when nobody else does, Lindsay calls on her friends to come and help her save him.
S4.E13 ∙ Hammerhead Sharks
With the evidence, the police, the judge and the odds stacked against them, Lindsay leads Bobby, Ellenor and Jimmy in the defense of Dennis Mills' hopeless murder trial. As the trial continues to go south for the defense, Lindsay uncovers a shocking truth that changes everything.
S4.E14 ∙ Checkmates
Helen is called in to question the son of a well-known police detective. Because she uses the father to get the son to confess to a murder, Bobby and Eugene try to have the confession thrown out. Meanwhile, Ellenor represents a slightly intellectually disabled young man accused of murder, and suspects a surprise witness who suddenly comes to his defense might be lying.
S4.E15 ∙ Race Ipsa Loquitor
Eugene and Rebecca represent a woman whose husband died during a routine liposuction, and are shocked to see that the defense attorney's strategy is to attack them personally. Meanwhile, Jimmy decides to reopen the Henry Olson case, after he is attacked at prison and requests to be put in solitary for the rest of his life sentence. He turns to a desperate Richard, reeling from a recent chain of defeats, and offers him a questionable deal that goes against everything they ever believed in.
S4.E16 ∙ Settling
Bobby is kidnapped and held at gunpoint by Patrick Rooney, a former client who blames him for convincing him to take a deal for a crime he didn't commit. Rooney tries to prove to Bobby he really was innocent, and that it was his inadequate counsel that caused him to lose 12 years of his life.
S4.E17 ∙ Black Widows
Bobby and Eugene defend Courtney Hansen, nicknamed by the media "The Black Widow", a woman accused of killing her weak-hearted husband by having sex with him to death. Having lost 2 previous husbands under mysterious circumstances, the ADA tries to prove it is her M.O. to marry sick old men for their money, and then kill them. Meanwhile, Helen tricks a confession out of a traumatized 15 year old girl, accused of killing her unborn baby, and Ellenor argues she is too young to withstand such trickery.
S4.E18 ∙ Death Penalties
Bobby and Helen once again go head to head in an assisted suicide case, each with their own past experiences involving the matter. Noticing Bobby's unresolved feelings about his part in his mother's death, Lindsay turns to his father for help. Ellenor goes to Pennsylvania to help a man on death-row get a DNA test that might exonerate him, which proves to be a lot harder than it sounds.
S4.E19 ∙ Till Death Do Us Part
Rebecca represents an elderly woman with Alzheimer's, recently remarried, whose daughter is trying to have the marriage annulled. But the woman's testimony in the hearing opens up a big can of worms concerning the truth about the death of her first husband. Jimmy goes to meet a mentally unstable old client of his, and is shocked to find himself being held by her at gunpoint. The event takes an even more bizarre turn when he discovers she has kidnapped CBS CEO Les Moonves, and is planning to play Russian Roulette with him on live television - while asking Jimmy to find a TV network willing to carry the broadcast. Meanwhile, Lindsay confronts Bobby about his affair, and even goes to Sarah for answers.

Friction at the firm gets to Jimmy, who's torn between loyalties and principles. Meanwhile, tension besets Shore as he crosses swords with his brilliant but erratic new boss, whose behavior raises questions of competence.

When Shore resolves a difficult case, Hannah finds herself extremely attracted to him; Eugene is offered a shot at a judgeship; and Berluti's practice attracts many clients, and also a threat from another neighborhood lawyer who sees Berluti as poaching turf.

Berluti's new practice is threatened by a lawyer who considers the neighborhood "his" turf; Hannah and Ellenor face off in a products liability case; Shore admits his feelings for Tara; and Eugene is appointed a judge.
S8.E22 ∙ Adjourned (a.k.a. Cheers)
Eugene becomes a Superior Court Judge, and is furious when his first case includes Alan Shore. Shore tries to fend off the advances of a co-worker, and Bobby Donnell tries to sidestep a final farewell party with the members of the practice.
