After Jon meets with a producer and director about casting him a film whose lead character is a country singer, he flies home to visit his family. Aaron shows Dominic and Glen around the UCLA campus, and later takes Dom surfing. Jon reflects on his time in LA, saying that although the experience has changed him for the better, it is not his home, as he does not wish to undergo the lifestyle change that living there would effect upon him.

Melissa and David get to know each other, but her wild night in the Bourbon Street bars repels him. Julie discusses with Danny her feelings on homosexuality.
Melissa dates a local frat boy but has doubts about his motivations. The housemates learn that they will produce a public-access show, and meet their boss, no-nonsense Elton.
Both Kelley and Melissa are initially attracted to Jamie, but Kelley meets a young aspiring doctor, Peter. The girls ring in the Chinese New Year by participating in a drag show.
David's stubbornness and solitary streak lead to conflicts with his housemates as they begin the NOATV assignment. A visit from an old boyfriend creates anxiety for Melissa.
On Valentine's Day 2000, Kelley grows closer to Peter; Julie entertains her visiting brother, Alan; Danny has a romantic dinner with Paul.
Kelley takes the lead producing the first installment of NOATV's The Real 7, and clashes with an uncooperative, musically inclined David.

Melissa's stresses and unresolved issues produce cracks in her bubbly exterior. Devout Matt explores dating possibilities outside the house.
The housemates' Mardi Gras 2000 experience includes a visit to author Anne Rice's house and a spot on a parade float. Alcohol impairs Danny's judgment, jeopardizing his relationship with Paul.

In South Africa, David's housemates see new sides to him, and his relationship with Melissa shows signs of improvement.
Jamie's poor communication and planning as a TV producer make for a chaotic low point in The Real 7. Danny's conservative parents and his boyfriend, Paul, visit at the same time.
Julie makes new friends and one foe outside the house: an attractive young waiter, a sensitive singer/songwriter, and a pugilistic girl named Squirrel. Kelley and Jamie get issues with each other out in the open.

Booze intervenes when Trishelle and Steven get caught up in each other on the dance floor and embarrass Frank by making out in front of him.
The insanity continues. Trishelle and Steven continue their drunken sexual escapades much to Frank's chagrin.
Meet the new roommates - Alton, Arissa, Brynn, Frank, Irulan, Steven and Trishelle - all picked to live on the 28th floor of the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas.
The allure of Steven snares yet another cast member when Arissa is pulled into his web. Missing her boyfriend, Dario, she tries to convince him they could have a little fun.
Frank gets in trouble when he jokingly refers to Arissa as the 'bitchy black girl in the house,' which precipitates a fight between Arissa, Alton and Frank in the elevator.
Brynn's obsession with Steven and Trishelle takes a turn for the worse when she gets into a heated argument with Steven and throws a fork at him.
Now that Brynn has been saved and is allowed to stick around, she rallies the troops to pick on Trishelle.
Brynn is having financial trouble, which leads her to audition for a go-go dancer position.
The house gets heavy as Arissa confronts Trishelle about her eating habits, and Irulan decides to take her relationship with Alton to a more sexual level.
The repercussions of Alton and Irulan's relationship come to a head when Irulan's boyfriend, Gabe, shows up for a visit.
Steven brings his best friend from home, John, to visit.
Frank finally meets a 'nice' girl on Spring Break who he brings back to the room, much to the dismay of Arissa, who catches them in the confessional.
After a disastrous work experience, Steven and Arissa have a nasty fight that prompts the group to go into a touch-feely 'group therapy/trust session.'
Trishelle is coerced into taking a pregnancy test, but not before Steven announces that he'll step into the parenting role and accept the child as his own.
Arissa's boyfriend, Dario, comes for a visit, and while enjoying his company, she can't let go of some of her anger issues.
The Irulan/Alton roller coaster continues, as Irulan celebrates her 22nd birthday, and boyfriend Gabe is not in town.
Once again, Steven calls a halt to his sexual relationship with Trishelle.
While in Australia, tensions flare between Alton and Irulan when she thinks he's out to be a player and is giving up on them.
After a grounding conversation with Arissa, Irulan decides to stay in Vegas and face her problems with Alton.
Arissa learns there is a bench warrant out for her arrest, following a run-in with her upstairs neighbor.
Frank, Trishelle and Steven head to Los Angeles for a (successful) interview, while the other roomates work on a project with a popular magazine.
Irulan and Alton continue their non-relationship by finding new romantic interests to make the other one jealous.
Trishelle gets a visit from a handsome fellow named Brian who she is totally enamored with.
Trishelle and Irulan both decide it's time to deal with some unfinished business once and for all - namely, figuring out where her relationship with Steven stands (for Trishelle) and what's going on with out-of-town boyfriend, Gabe (for Irulan).
Brynn starts to have panic attacks and questions her mental health.
Steven realizes (again) that he's leading Trishelle on by sleeping withher but not wanting to take her out on a date.
In one of those THE REAL WORLD is a SMALL WORLD stories, Irulan's best friend comes to visit and announces that Arissa's ex-boyfriend Dario got her former suitemate pregnant.
All good things must come to an end. The Real Worlders bid a tearful farewell to each other and the City of Sin.
The Real World: San Diego castmates join up 6 months after filming to discuss the show, their relationships, and what they're up to now.

When MJ breaks up with his girlfriend, Sarah hopes he will hook up with her-but MJ prefers blondes. Landon doesn't know how to pursue his crush on Shavonda.
As Karamo struggles to deal with his anger at MJ, the roommates learn they will work as interns for the Philadelphia Soul, an arena football team, and their boss will be co-owner Jon Bon Jovi.
The air conditioner is broken and Shavonda and Sarah use this as an excuse to sleep in Landon's and MJ's beds. One guy loves it, the other doesn't.
Shavonda finds Landon to be sexy and fun when he's sober, but she comes to fear his aggression when he's drinking. An alienated Melanie seeks new friends outside the house. Only Sarah tries to understand her.

The Karamo and Dorian romance is tested when Karamo begins to wonder if he's forced feeling for someone who's not really his type. When Sarah's family visits, she can no longer avoid dealing with the fact her mom is ill with cancer.
Sarah thinks MJ is sexist and doesn't respect women who, like her, challenge his traditional opinions. The roommates have to spend the day clearing brush for their playground project, but, after a long night partying in the Gayborhood, Willie can't get out of bed.
When a drunken Landon feels threatened by Melanie's punk friends, he reaches for a kitchen knife. Karamo challenges Shavonda on why she doesn't relate more to her black culture.
Melanie has a mysterious rash that could spread to the whole house. The roommates present plans for their playground project to their bosses and are rewarded with the promise of a great vacation.
On vacation in Fiji, a sexually frustrated Sarah hooks up with three guys in one night, then fights with Melanie when she acts judgmental.
Romantic Fiji and the sight of Landon's sexy tan body overwhelm Shavonda's resistance. She and Landon become a couple-to Karamo's disgust.
Shavonda has to make some decisions: Will she confess her unfaithfulness to her homeboy Shaun? Will she and Landon remain a couple? Karamo surprised his roommates by hooking up with a sexy Puerto Rican guy, Ed.
MJ and Shavonda confront Melanie about her preference for her punk bar friends over her roommates. The roomies return to work-well, four do and three stay home.
While his boyfriend Dan is away, Willie begins a flirtation with a young guy from the Gayborhood. Happy with Ed, Karamo decides to reconcile with Landon.
Ashley's visit to Philly becomes a monster of a journey for MJ as he is torn between entertaining his girlfriend and his best friend on the same night.
The roomies struggle to finish their playground project on time, as Sarah's anxiety over her body image threatens to hold up the progress.
After months of living together it's time for our seven strangers to say goodbye to Philadelphia. When Landon brings home another girl, Shavonda is forced to reevaluate her feelings for him. Meanwhile, Willie finally opens up to MJ about his struggles with his family.
Seven strangers arrive in Austin and embark upon their new journey. Wes, Nehemiah, Johanna, Rachel, Danny, Melinda, and Lacey all seem to mesh well at first and crushes are developed fast.
Melinda comforts Danny, who is in extreme pain from his broken cheekbone, while the roommates have another night on the town.
Danny's dad comes to visit and he and Melinda accompany Danny into surgery. In the hospital, Melinda comforts Danny and the two grow even closer.
When Rachel talks about her experience as a soldier in Iraq, an explosive argument about war ensues with Nehemiah.
While "on a break" from her boyfriend back home, Rachel finds a new romance with Colin. Wes and Nehemiah raid the groupie drawer in search of potential hook ups.
The roommates soak up the bar life, while Danny stays home to recover from his eye surgery. Just when Danny thinks he is all alone for the night, Melinda surprises him with hugs, kisses, and nakedness, which saves him from his sorrow.
Melinda primps and prepares for her big date with Danny, but when Danny arrives home from his shopping spree, he receives the tragic news that his mom died earlier that day. Stunned and shocked, Danny plans a flight home to be with his family.
A heartbroken Danny returns to Massachusetts for his mother's funeral.
Jo and Leo finally go on a date! Jo decides she actually doesn't have strong feelings for Leo but she still flirts with him at the bar.
The gang's next film assignment is to create short portraits of each other. They choose the following set-ups: Rachel/Lacey, Wes/Nehemiah, Mel/Jo. They are also surprised to find out that they have their very own editing room in the house.
While Wes is out on the town trying to be the pimp he always says he can be, he meets the hottest girl in the whole bar, Wren. After Rachel makes out with the bouncer of a local bar, Nehemiah calls her a slut and Rachel freaks out. The girls try to console Rachel but all she wants to do is hit Nehemiah and go home.
The gang screen their portraits for their editor, Paul, who criticizes Nehemiah's work. Since Nehemiah was a film major he is surprised and hurt by this but takes it in stride.
Mel plans a weekend getaway for the gang on a ranch, but the boys seem to be thinking of open pastures in the relationship sense. The thought of a little horesplay makes Danny question just what he is doing with Mel. In Real World fashion, the gang hit the bars the night before their trip.
Drinking seems to bring out another side of Johanna. Where could it possibly land her? Rachel and Johanna sit around and talk about Johanna's drunken actions the night before. Johanna seems to get out of control when she puts back a few, so much so that it took Rachel and Mel to hold her back.
Johanna has it bad for Leo, but (surprise!) Leo has a girl on the side. Johanna talks with Wes and gets his take on the whole situation. Wes tells her to be more up front with what she wants and to watch out, but Johanna can't keep her distance.
Love and work don't always mix so well. Danny realizes how lucky he is to have such a great connection with Mel and asks her to be his girlfriend. SxSW starts and the gang jump into work mode--well, maybe just a few of them. The group finds out from their boss, Paul, that by early next week they must have a decent rough cut of their documentary or they can't go on their vacation.
South by Southwest is in full swing and the roomies are busy gathering footage for their documentary. First up is the band Halifax, whom everyone seems to like except for Lacey. When the band chills at the Real World house, Rachel develops a little crush on lead singer Mike.
Rachel's boy Erik is paying Rachel a visit, but it's not clear yet whether love or heartbreak is on the itinerary. Meanwhile, Danny starts the search for the guy who sucker-punched him.
The pressure is on the roomies as the deadline for their film project approaches. Everyone's reputation is at stake, especially aspiring film student Nehimiah's.. Since the housemates know that Nehimiah has previous editing experience, they leave all of the video editing to the expert, something that Lacey and Rachel don't feel completely comfortable doing.
Watch out, Costa Rica...here comes the cast from Real World: Austin! The housemates are so psyched to be in Costa Rica that they head straight for the beach as soon as they arrive at their ocean-view hotel. And of course, it wouldn't be a vacation without a late night of bar-hopping and hitting the town.
Wes can't seem to get his mind off the ladies, especially the frontrunner for his heart, Wren. He can't decide whether to continue what he has with her or to start playing the field again. Later the gang gets invited to a special screening of the documentary Dig! Wes and Danny ditch the invitation, claiming they have better things to do with their Friday night.
Ring ring... who is it? Oh, it's Nehemiah and he is calling from jail! The documentary screening is just around the corner and the editor is behind bars. What is the gang to do? After hearing the news of Nehemiah's arrest Danny heads to the Travis County Justice Complex to gather some information on what happened.
All good things must come to and end, and what would a roomie farewell be without some drama for the road?

Janelle has reservations when her ex-boyfriend, Kasib, plans a weekend visit. Sure enough, they fight and Kasib finds himself kicked out of the house in the middle of the night with no where to go.
