A little girl who plays in and around Djupelv finds the remains of a body. The family won't be involved in anything and tip off the police anonymously, but later that day, the girl runs off from home and disappears mysteriously.
In spite of warnings, Thomas begins investigating Silja's death, revealing a seemingly abandoned sawmill that conceals macabre secrets.
