The Undertaker
A detective leaves the force to take over the family business as an undertaker at the same time as he is being investigated for murder. His close encounters with corpses and his earlier police training lead him to see things some of his ex-colleagues miss and he investigates the crimes he encounters in an unofficial capacity often to the dismay of he official police.

"Child Burial". Anker's painting Kinderbegräbnis sits at the core of Season 5's mystery. A child's skeleton is placed in front of the painting, but the motive is obscure. Fabio and Luc have a hard time managing business with Erika away.

Investigation of the murder of a a residential care nurse leads the police to wonder if it was an inside job. Semmelweis is trying to remember the significance of a number. Launer is released from prison.
S5.E3 ∙ Die herzlose Leiche
A black man is found dead floating with a swastika on his forehead. Luc takes the victims son under his care and protection. Fabio helps with the death of a child.
S5.E4 ∙ Schlagabtausch
"Repartee". An amateur boxer falls to his death and lands on top of a garbage truck. Sebastian is on the run. Irene encourages Luc in the search for her daughter.
S5.E5 ∙ Letzter Zug
"Last move". Erika and Fabio go to fetch a body from an antique shop, but are surprised too find more than one. With Luc occupied with the Das Kinderbegräbnis affair, they must solve the mystery on their own.
S5.E6 ∙ Schuld und Sühne
"Crime and Punishment". The Das Kinderbegräbnis affair comes to a conclusion. Luc and Anna Maria make an announcement.
