Gavin, a new pupil at school who has childhood ties with Jock, fires up a jealous rage in Conor. Determined not to be ousted as best friend, Conor struggles to stand up to Gavin, but it's not easy as his mother is a new teacher at the school. Friendships are tested with hilarious outcomes.
A day trip in memory of Conor's dad leads the gang to an encounter with a local landowner that sparks pandemonium. Some mysterious cash has also appeared, so Mairéad and an interfering Billy Murphy jump to conclusions.
Conor, Jock and Mairéad, always tight on cash, come up with a hare-brained idea to become business owners as they buy a second hand chip van to try make extra money.
Billy Murphy enlists the help of Conor, Jock, and eventually Mairéad, to avoid getting killed by a former cellmate of his who has just been released from prison.
The baby is due soon, and Siobhán is upset that both families can't stop arguing. Orla tries to come up with a solution, suggesting that both families go away for a weekend break, but no one is convinced this is a good idea.
