Commissioner Popov grooms Martin Hristov from a young age to be an undercover agent in mob boss Petar 'Djaro' Tudjarov's organized crime gang. Martin attempts to infiltrate the gang by warning them of an ambush and gaining their trust.

Martin sets out to prove himself to Djaro by recovering a missing car loaded with drugs. Sunny craves freedom as life with Djaro gets increasingly restrictive.

Jaro obtains a damaging video featuring the Parliament member Anna Nedelcheva. The price of the sex tape is 250 00 Lev and Martin has to get the money. The delicate case is given to Popov. He taps Nedelcheva's phone but fails to recognize Martin's voice. So Popov sets a trap for his own agent.

Martin records a conversation between Jaro and other drug bosses but the recording is deleted by a mole in the Organized Crime Unit. Popov gives a new assignment to his undercover agent. Martin decides to retire after completing it.

The mole in the Organized Crime Unit is captured and Martin decides to continue his work under cover as long as he and Sunny are protected. Popov heads a showcase police operation after which he is promoted and transferred to another unit.

Martin follows Ivo to find out if Sunny is alive. The police raids one of Jaro's amphetamine cooking facilities. The chemist Rossen 'the Hook' is arrested. Popov has to give all the secret info on the Jaro's case to his successor Vasil.

The diplomat who has been smuggling Jaro's dirty money abroad is revealed. The mobster is arrested but later released due to insufficient evidence. Jaro swears to avenge Popov.

Popov is beaten within an inch of his death but Jaro finds out that the police commissioner has survived. The boss has to find some alternatives in order to save his business and his life. Errol gets a new mission - to infiltrate himself in Ivo's gang. Ivo, however, has imposed severe loyalty tests and the task seems impossible. Errol helps him seize a lost shipment of drugs and thinks he has earned his confidence, but after the action Ivo commissions Raphael to kill him.

Errol goes on his first assignment given by Ivo and brings him one of Dzharo's people. The man gives Ivo invaluable information on an Italian drug trafficking corridor run by Dzharo under the nickname Il Cane. Ivo risks and introduces himself as Il Cane. However, Nia who attends the meeting with the Italians too, knows the truth about Ivo.

S5.E3 ∙ Episode #5.3

Nia helps Ivo prove to the Italians that he is "Il Cane" and this way forces him to work together. He begins raising funds through extortion of petty mobsters, Errol actively participates in all shares and wins Ivo's liking. This embitters Ronnie and he makes a trap to Errol to make it fails to Ivo. Martin warns Errol and he managed to escape.

Ivo trusts Errol more and more. He assignes him to assist the liquid drug transportation to the factory. Errol reports to Martin about the drugs supply and they both persuade the police to take an action at the third shipment.However, driven by ambition, Martin rushes and puts Errol's life in danger.

After Ivo saves Errol's life, risking his own, Errol hesitates which are the good and which are the bad. Ivo fascinates him with his "sincere gangster" philosophy. Martin completely loses Erol's confidence after sacrificing the life of one of his closest subordinates in the police department.

Martin forces Errol to cooperate with him by threatening him that he will uncover him to Ivo. Errol ostensibly agrees but sends him not to Ivo's track but after a competitor of his. Martin realizes that Errol has tricked him and has cleared the path to Andonov. Furious, Martin sends a flash drive with compromising evidence against Errol to Ivo.
