Meanwhile, three generations fish together on one boat in an epic battle for bluefin.
S9.E6 ∙ Kraken the Code
The Gloucester captains usually dominate the catch with their local knowledge, but find their favourite spots invaded by tourist boats. With more commercial boats on the water and a small quota getting filled up, the need to find prime fishing becomes more vital, especially with the new captains challenging them for top spot.
S9.E7 ∙ While the Getting Is Good
Dave Carraro lets the fleet know that the buyers are considering shutting down the buying. With the blue fin markets being over saturated, due to so many fish being brought in too quickly, every captain comes under more pressure because their next fish could be their last.
S9.E8 ∙ Bluefin Shutdown
The blue fin market is set to close down in 48 hours. This raises the pressure, and tensions among the captains run high. Dave Marciano finally hooks one, names it "the reverse the curse fish", and a happy crew head for port. Since it is a quality fish they manage to get a good price.
S9.E9 ∙ Back to Business
Although the market is closed, Dave Marciano assists Molly Lutcavage from the Large Pelagics Research Centre, to catch and tag tuna for future stock management. The market opens and the fleet heads out to sea. Returning to port they find the market hasn't fully recovered, and poor payouts are received.
S9.E10 ∙ Mate Debate
The Mates step up their efforts. Jarrett surprises TJ with the news that he is getting engaged. Fat Tuna tries some kite fishing, scoring a tuna for their efforts, and being a heavy, high quality fish they get a good price. FV Tuna.Com hooks up but looses it at the last minute, and on Falcon Joe Marciano gets his first Halibut.
S9.E11 ∙ Angry Waters
Extremely rough weather is the order of the day, and the high seas are forcing the captains to make harsh decisions. The question is whether they should take risks to catch fish, or take the safe option and head back to port.
S9.E12 ∙ Pineapple Mafia
Good luck charms are brought in to assist the catch. Tyler McLaughlin, Captain of the Pinwheel, gives out lucky pineapples to the Gloucester boats. The outsiders have their own superstitions. Everyone hopes for good luck and big catches.
S9.E13 ∙ Crunch Time
Time is running out and Hot Tunas lead position is in the newcomers cross hairs. Big catches by Wasabi and Fat Tuna keeps the pressure on the fleet. Pinwheel struggles to catch up to rival, Kraken, as the end of the season looms.
