Zoey Brooks and her brother, Dustin, attend their first day at Pacific Coast Academy, a private boarding school that enrolls girls for the first time in its history.

Zoey and Nicole return to PCA for the second year. But they soon find out Dana will not be returning, and a very strange roommate, Lola, has come to take her place. The year gets to a bad start for Chase and Michael, because of Logan's very loud gifts from his dad.
A time capsule project is presented to Zoey and her friends. Each one of them must contribute something that represents them. Zoey makes a DVD explaining what each of her friends means to her. Chase can't wait for 20 years, so he decides to dig up the capsule with a very tired Michael.
As a joke, Chase and Zoey nominate each other to run for class president, even though neither one really wants to win -- until the campaign heats up.
This Halloween, Logan is in charge of making the haunted house.
Dustin's new science partner is PCA troublemaker Trisha Kirby, who much to his delight decides to declare him her boyfriend. When Zoey finds out about this new relationship, she drafts Chase into trying to break them up. In the process of doing so, Chase inadvertently causes her to turn her affections towards him instead, placing him in a love triangle with Dustin, and forcing Zoey and Chase to examine true nature of their own friendship.
Chase and Michael get a big break on their webcast show when Zoey and Logan join the cast.
Zoey gets upset when Logan rats her and her friends out for hanging out on the guys' roof. Logan also tells Zoey that boys act differently around girls. Zoey wants to prove to Logan that boys and girls can act normal around each other by having Lola dress up as a boy and room with Chase and Logan. Meanwhile, Michael deals with trying to escape from the nurse's office.
Zoey and her friends challenge some stuck-up computer geeks to a robot battle, and recruit Quinn for her expertise. It seems that a win is guaranteed until she overhears Logan making fun of her behind her back, and quits the team. With nobody to help them build their robot, the kids are forced to ask the smartest boy in the school for help, who will only do so on the condition that Nicole goes on a date with him.
Chase agrees to tutor Lola in biology. They have a good time together, and Lola realizes she has a crush on Chase. When she asks him out, Chase is conflicted about what to do because of his feelings for Zoey. Also, Zoey suddenly gets jealous when she finds out, even though she told Lola that she and Chase are just friends. Meanwhile, Logan tries to teach Dustin about how to get a girl to like you, which takes a lot of work.
The gang is invited to Logan's dad's mansion for spring break, only to find out they are being used for testing a new reality show called "Gender Defenders." Now it's boys against girls and, when Chase accidentally sends a text message to Zoey proclaiming his true feelings for her, they start to wonder if it's Spring Break or Spring Bummer.
Sushi Rox, one of the most popular restaurants in PCA, catches fire and hits the ground. Zoey doesn't want to go on knowing Kazu, the owner of the restaurant, is heartbroken and really loved working there. So, she puts on a People Auction, having her and her friends do various chores to help raise money for Sushi Rox.
It's halfway through the semester at PCA's second year of being an boys and girls school. But when Quinn's alpaca, Otis, becomes depressed, she wants to leave PCA.
